Bad recharge tension, must see with voltmeter by battery, mostlikely bad alternator bridge/brushes.Rare:alternator belt slip, can be asociated with motor over heating (because of the water pump shared belt).Brake light must track the problem, can be stucked float on the pump oil cap, worn brake pads (if it have the sensor, easily identify by wire near the pads),bad hand brake switch.

have your torque converter checked sounds like its going to the locked position when you are in reverse. your torque converter should only lock in after you get up to 30-40 MPH then should unlock after you slow down or stop.

My brake light and battery light are on in my eclipse. Know why?

The usual reason is the alternator has failed, or the circuit from the alternator to the battery is open. There's a big fuse in the engine compartment junckion box that sometimes blows.

Mitsubishi eclipse convertiable timing belt change?

Typical timing belt intervals are every 60k miles. It's a very involved service to do the whole job - timing belt, timing belt tensioner, serpentine or accessory belts, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, all fluids, all filters, brake and suspension inspection, and tire rotation. On many cars it's recommended to change the oxygen sensors as well. Quite a bit of this can be done when you want, but the first five items are critical and should all be done. And regardless of whether your manufacturer says the coolant is "lifetime", replace it - don't reuse coolant. It's cheap and it's good practice to use new coolant.
