SOURCE: 2000 grand caravan won't stay running when I stop

When you try to start it back up, have you tried very slightly pressing on the accelerator and trying to start it? If it does start, but dies as soon as you let up on the pedal, dollars to donuts the IAC (idle air control) passageway is blocked or the IAC motor is bad (should throw out a check engine light though).

SOURCE: Dodge nitro wont start or turn over. The battery

Is this an intermitting problem only occure during dry and cold weather?
Behind the ignition key lock there is a module call Wireless Control Module (WCM). When this module is zap by static eletricity build up during cold weather (via the key). It will hang just like you computer.
As a test please please touch the key to a metal object to discharge the static on the key before insert it into the ignition.
If the problem stop complete then you can take it to the Dodge dealer the arrange service on the Wireless Control Module (WCM) or wire for better grounding.

SOURCE: 2007 dodge nitro, malfunction indicator light came

There are literally thousands of codes that can cause that light to come on. Auto Zone will scan the computer for free and give you any codes you have. We would need to know the codes to help you pinpoint the issue.

Testimonial: "ZX2Fast had the answer I needed, and told me where I could have my MIL indicator light checked for free, rather than paying the Dealer to check it! "

2007 Dodge Nitro. Why will my Nitro not idle on it's on.

I think you mean 'crank no start. Cranking is 'turning over', idling is when it has fired and stays running.

So it really depends if it doesn't fire at all, or it is starts and dies out?

2008 Dodge Nitro problem starting when engine warm.

  • ALL FUSES test good, and IMMO lamp reads good?

no engine told at all and is and engine problem. and has gas or diesel engine, omg not the same at all
warm not WORMs, rats eat wires but not worms, LoL.
this failure is called in tech/engineers world
as HOT SOAK FAILURE, most times spark dead.
    that stator always works right
the cars starter motor cranks load and fast we all that robust cranking even does 300 rpm .

so is not a start run problem it is a dead silent starter the only clue to me is the jumper wire, wow.

    The PCM controls 3 relays
ASD relay and Starter and fuel pump relays.
so if really did hot wire real starter relay them means the PNRDL is bad.
    got automatic transmission.????
    got what engine.
\USA car, sorry cant guess cars, drivelines ever.
do you have the security system OEM on this car
and the IP cluster lamp same name is NOT HAPPY as the users manual tell you.
got both keys to Ignition car new provide
or lost one if both try them both?

    guess #2 automatic trans
does the starter motor spin in P and N
both must work and P fails long before P
    so we try both .
the starter relays is controlled by
1 computers, not just one and the PRNDL switch.
    I have the schematic here.
PRNDL shows what gear it is ,
wrong selection is made the PRNLD tells first
the PCM, and if PCM is happy
the PCM click (energizes) the Starter relay
the MTIP module contains the relay and can fail too.

if the IMMO fails , it may not crank. or can cuts spark.
if the starter does work the ASD can cut fuel
if the PCM sees any kinds kinds of bad spark.
spark coils dead, CMP dead CKP dead
to prevent fires. it cuts fuel dead.
    so does IMMO./

if you scan the PCM it tells you why it cuts those relays. if you had done that.

learn to check all fuse first
    then scan it
and if the starter motor fails say it will not crank or the starter motor is silent.

2007 Dodge Nitro 3.7 engine turn key but will not start. like not getting gas could this be a fuel pump problem.tapped on tank then nitro started

Would you not be better off just checking
fuel pressure at the motor with a gauge, since
for some reason the pump runs when you tap
on the fuel tank

I have an issue with a 87 toyota pick up carburetor. Sometimes it doesnt want to start and sometimes it does a friend told me its that diaphram on the front of the carb with the 3 bolts but he could not...

Okay, your freind may be right, that part is called the accelerator pump, it is used for starting the truck, when you pump the gas to start it this pumps a few squirts of gas into the carb. what concerns me is that you hold the gas pedal to the floor to start it, most of the time an internal leaking carb floods the engine and holding the pedal down will let it start, a quick test would be to use a carb cleaner spray and before trying to start the truck hit the gas pedal and see if inside from the top of the carb look and see if you see a squirt of gas spray out, you will need some one to push the gas pedal or you can do it at the carb, if it squirts gas then the accelerator pump may be good and carb may be leaking and need rebuilding but if it doesnt squirt then its bad and then i want you to spray the carb cleaner into the carb and try to start the truck and if its due to the accel pump then after you spray into carb the truck should fire up and run without having to hold the pedal to the floor, if thats the case then replace accel pump if it still doesnt fire until you hold gas down then crab needs rebuilding . good day. hope this is helpful.

My 1987 dodge raider is having problems starting. Sometimes it seems like the car does not have enough power from the battery. It has the 2.6 four cylinder and is also fitted with a carb. It has been...

Check your fuses. Make sure the battery is good and the battery terminals are clean and the wires have no tears. Make sure your engine is getting gas. Spray gas or engine starter in the carb. If it starts for a second, it is a fuel problem. Either fuel pump, fuel pump fuse or relay, or clogged fuel filter. If this all checks out, you need to start looking at spark plugs, wires, distributor, cap, rotor. Check your timing belt and make sure it is not broke. It could be a cam sensor or crank sensor as well.

I have to use starter fluid to get my truck running and than when running it will die in idle and not restart without adding more starter fluid? what can i do?

It sounds like it's not getting fuel. Are you in a cold climate? The gas line could be frozen. You can check the fuel pump by disconnecting the gas line at the carb, you may want to put a length of hose on the line and catch the gas in a coffee can. Then have someone crank the engine while you watch to see if gas squirts out of the line. I wouldn't use too much starting fluid, you can damage your engine, pour a little gas in the carb instead. Also, on a truck of that age the gas line could have a hole rusted in it between the tank and the fuel pump. If that's the case the pump will not pull the gas out of the tank it will draw air instead. It could be the fuel pump itself. If you have a good stream of gas to the carb then the problem is in the carb. It could be the needle valve is stuck shut, take a screwdriver and lightly tap on the carb, that will sometimes jar the needle loose. If you have gas to the carb it could also be clogged jet inside the carb. I you hold the choke partialy closed will it stay running then?
