It sounds like a wheel bearing or your break rotor is warped creating friction and making the grease heat to melting point. BTW, it will catch fire if it get hot enough so have it fixed asap.
Testimonial: "thank you so much! i will get this fixed right away. eek... dont want it to catch fire!"
If you find the first suggestion not to be the case than your emergency brake might be stuck on

Comment from the FixYa Moderator Staff:
Regarding your PO0117 code, I would suggest to you to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor. This is a rather common isue, either the sensor is bad, the wiring connection is compromised, or the coolant level is low. I woul dthink that the senor is the issue, however.
Thnaks or coming to FixYa for advice with your VW.

The problem is either of two things. Either the mechanical oil pump filter is clogged or you have a bad oil pressure switch.
There is a design flaw with the mechanical oil pump. It needs to be have the mesh filter on the oil pump cleaned and the return tube needs to be bored out. If the problem persist check the oil pressure switch. You have to remove the front suspension to get to both so do both at the same time. Anywhere from 250.00 to 600.00 for this job.
GOOD LUCK.
