How do i change the starter on my 92 olds 88 royal

It will take many pages of instruction for someone to tell you this.
I can but sketch it.
For detailed instruction, you will need to go to a public library or a car parts store and get a repair manual, they are year and model specific.
Disconnect the battery.
Find the starter and unhook the wires.
Unbolt the starter from the motor.
Replace the starter and bolts.
Replace the wires.
Hook the battery back up again.
God bless your efforts.

Every 6 months must replace starter.

Anon. Do you have to crank the engine over a lot to get the engine started, do you need a tune up? If it a factory stock engine and you are sure it is correct starter and installed properly (with shims if required for meshing gap), makes me think there may be a damaged ring gear on the flywheel/flexplate. Also make sure starter is quality part.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

How do I replace the solenoid on the starter?? we need step by step instructions. thank you

You remove the starter

Then replace the solenoid and
reinstall the starter

Not a real difficult job,if you need
instructions I would suggest you
jack up the car, support it,look over the
task first

If you have very little in the way of tools,
no metric tools, you will want an experienced
car guy there to show you how

Battery is fine but the engine won't fire. Is this a starter problem? Where is the starter located?

starter is on bottom, passenger side of engine; however please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5821173-doesnt_car_start_gasoline_engines before replacing. These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Wont start sometimes could be starter

if it doesn't crank, maybe a dead spot on starter commutator. Next time it happens, try smacking the starter with a hammer. If this works, replace the starter.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

I need instructions on how to replace a starter for a 1990 oldsmobile calais

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove mounting bolts from starter. Pull it out of the hole, and down to where you can access the wires. Pay close attention to how they are put on. You want everything pointing the same direction when you're done. Remove the wires, and install new one in reverse of above.

Need to replace starter need info on how to do it.

chb725: If you go to mybunkey solutions and see the heading " "Starter, battery and alternator ok", you will find that I have given instructions for the removal and installation of a starter for a 1995 Nissan Maxima, in great detail.
The instructions include the tools needed, proceedures in a sequence more detailed (which you will not find in any book) and precautions to be taken during the removal and installation of the starter.
I hope this will provide the answer you are looking for. If not, I will await a more detailed request from you.
