If I understand, the key will not rotate to all of the normal positions? If this is true, then I would guess that the trani didn't fully return to the park position please verify, You can check the ignition switch(the one that is half way down the steering column) for defects. Is there any binding, does the rotate freely? Thank you; good luck.

I have a 1976 Stingray Corvette. Was sitting for over 1 1/2' in the garage. I tried to start it and it needed a new battery. I place a new battery it started up. After a few weeks now the car does not

You have an alternating problem..I assume on a 76 model you have an internal regulator...if you have no voltage meter then charge your battery and start the var then pull positive battery terminal...if car dies, alternator is bad and needs replacing. If it stays running your at least putting out some voltage but might not be enough...most parts stores(Auto Zone, ect)will do a free voltage check(on or off vehicle)

1976 chevy stingray corvette, new battery it kicks in and sounds like it wants to start but it would start. Any idea why?

Mary...when you say "wants to start" I'm not sure if it turns over but won't start(sounds like lack of fuel or timing problem)or it won't turn over fast enough to start(again sounds like alternating problem and for a bit been running car off battery with no alternator till battery too low to turn engine over)...and what the heck is "starter fluid"???? No such thing.

How do I get replacment ignition and door keys for my 1989 Corvette?

Any hardware store can duplicate keys, lock smith in your area, big box store (the home improvement kind).

Should be pretty simple ... in my area it costs about $2.00 to duplicate a key.

My key is stuck in the ignition. The car is in park, but the ignition did not completely return to the off position and the key will not release.

Thats a chevy for ya ! Theres something weird between the shifter and the ignition. Turn the key as far as you can off, then put it in nuetrel. Start the car and it if starts, put it in park and turn the key off, if it is still stuck, keep trying .

The ignition lock is jammed

this happened on my 74 corvette. I had to replace the ignition key cylinder chevy had a pretty common problem with this if I remember correctly there is a small hole where you put the key in you take something like a paper clip and insert it in the hole this releases the cylinder and it pulls out replace with a new cylinder which just pops in
