1995 Cad Northstar. Car quits running while driving with no warning at all and for no obvious reason. Usually, not always. starts up after a while and runs great until the next time. Has been back to Cad garage for repair many times and has not been fixed. This car only has 55 K miles and is imaculate, never abused The problem has been going on for about 2 years. Help, please!!

    what is the service number on p.c.m? also i would check wiring harness . remove all loom and inspect all wiring . this will take a little bit of time but is well worth knowing the cars electrical wiring is good

has anyone told you it might be the coil i think you have more than one on this car.i know you have spent a lot of money usually coils are the problem at least try that.is this a v6?let me know.

SOURCE: Quits running and engine light is now on!

I am having the same problem... My solution was to check for pending trouble codes, which is a sensor about to go out... Mine was a crankshaft sensor b trouble code PO385 and PO356.. You might want to check it out...I have 80,000 mile today also 03 deville V8 4.6

Hey Guys! Had the same annoying problem. Cadillac dealer could find nothing wrong with it. Gave me a new battery. Took it to PepBoys and it died for them and immediately they found that it was the Crank Positon Sensor!! Part was $70 + labor. GOOD as NEW!!!!

Tell your service man that he his full of it. You need to check your rear shocks they have wires comeing out the top see if they are all have good connections they may have to be replaced they are very hard to find.

2001 cad sts shuts off while driving
Turn the key to the on position and listen for a buzzing sound. If you do not hear one you have a bad fuel pump. If you do hear the buzz, Replace the fuel filter. If it is clogged it could starve the engine for fuel which would obviously kill the motor.

sounds like the soleniod to the starter is bad. The starter is located under the intake plenum for the Northstar engine.

Same as a lot of folks. 1995 Pathfinder. Without warning will not reverse. Hardly any difference in RPM between park/Neutral/Reverse. How can I tell if I need a rebuild ?
if it is the automatic transmission and the other gears work but it wont drive in reverse. then I suspect the transmission fluid is too low.
are you checking the fluid correctly?
my sister had a car that reverse went out on. my dad asked her, how long has it been doing this?
she said 6 months and that she had to always park in a position that she wouldnt need reverse.
my dad asked how is the fluid? my sister said its always full on the dip stick.
she showed my dad it was full.
she didnt check the level correctly..
she checked the fluid when the car was cold. she checked the fluid when the car had been sitting for quite sometime and when it was not running.

run the engine till the transmission is warm. shift the car in all the gears. leave the car running in park on level ground and check the fluid then.

2003 Cad Deville, while driving engine stopped. put car in neutral turned switch and it started right up, this is twice this happened, 46,000 miles on car.
Hello,Your car probably has the 4.6 northstar engine.This (phantom stall) condition is usally caused by 1 or both of the Crankshaft position sensors.I have seen this condition quite frequently on your perticular car.I would replace both of the crank sensors and that should do the trick.you might want to take it to a repair shop due the location of the sensors (front lower part of engine near oil filter) Good luck.

AWD Disable Warning Light
Reinflate your tires to the proper pressure and this usually goes away. I have had this quite a few times and the dealers will try to talk you into all sorts of problems that they can fix and replace stuff including rear ends for $$$. Do you even go places where all wheel drive is that important? It has never caused a real problem in mine.

1995 cavalier z24,quad 4,dies at random moments.
Have someone else see if their scanner will communicate, if not, this is a sure sign that the ECM has gone bad and will cause intermittent stalling. Normally I would recommend changing the crank sensor for this problem and it still may be the cause if you want to try it first, but it sure sounds like a bad ECM.
