My 2001 chevy cavalier started sputering and wouldnt pick up speed I just had the oil changed. It was not doing this before I took it in. when I left it had a hard time starting. Then when it did try and pickup speed it seemed to be catching then a loud noise with jerking then it dies. Anyone know what may be causing this

Could be a fuel fault, with a pressure gauge check the fuel pressure and flow , if the pressure is low check the fuel pump and fuel regulator , if the flow is low replace the fuel filter.

SOURCE: How do you change the headlight for a 2001 chevy cavalier

i actually just did this a couple days ago, this takes about 20 minutes and a little bit of patience. When you pop your hood you will see a protective piece of plastic over the headlights/radiator, you firstly have to remove the plastic clips holding that piece then pull that piece of plastic off, once done u will see 2 bolts holding each headlight in place, i believe it is a 9/16 socket but if not just find the one that fits, remove the 4 bolts (2 for each headlight) and pull the headlight in an up and outwards manor. if you feel any resistance do not yank look at why it is catching and clear it, then it should just pop out (the headlight and the corner piece and clipped together so dont pull it too far out) then when the bulb is accessible pull the old bulb, put the new bulb in and voila place the headlight back into position, redo the 4 bolts holding the headlights and re-attach the plastic headlight/radiator cover. Enjoy the new lights

If new bulbs don't work, it is probably the harness that holds the bulb. I had to replace both on my car after fighting with the problem for over a year and not knowing.

MY DAUGHTER HAVE A 1997 CHEVY CAVILER. AFTER IT SIT UP FOR AWHILE, IT WANT PICK UP SPEED. WE HAVE HAD THE OIL CHANGER TIMING CHAIN DONE. WIRES CHANGE, NEW FAN PUT IN AND SPARKS PLUG CHANGED BACK IN MARCH.

You need to remove the fuel line and blow back into it to remove any debri that has collected around the fuel pick up. Be sure the fuel filter under the car is changed as well and the fuel filter on the firewall. Also fill the tank and put 2 quarts of rubbing alcohol in the fuel tank to dry up any water.

How to take apart a fuel pump on a 2003 chev cavalier

I have an 03 cavi and it wouldnt start so i took the fuel pump out and pluged it back in and turned the key to the on position and the fuel pump works so i think it might just be the pick up filter. Im going to take the fuel pump appart and see whats up.

Turns over but wont start

I have no idea if this is the same fault but sounds so much like My volvo problem maybe worth a try ..
The 850 has a large bore not unlike your vehicle and the oil used was not up to the job because when left overnight the oil drained off the pots and the result was no compression so it wouldnt start .
I was told to squirt a little oil into the cylinders and try again , it took a little time for the oil to get round the cylinder but sure enough without any problem she started .. So I changed the grade of Motor Oil I was using to a better Synthetic brand cost me an arm and a leg lol but since then not a one problem . now I am not saying that this will cure your problem but it just might , and an oil change never did any vehicle any harm ...
