CHECK THAT THE LINKAGE ON THE TRANSMISSION ISNT HUNG UP. OR HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKED. MAY NEED A TRANSMISSION SERVICE DUE TO A PLUGGED FILTER.
Stop any oil leaks as the transmission requires exacting oil pressure to do the job. Any leaks reduces the pressure so gear changing is affected. Besides when do you know if the oil level has dropped below operating level and will be insufficient for the gear box.
It's just under the water pump. You most likley need to replace the magnet that is on the cam gear to fix it. The sensors hardly ever go bad. The timing cover will need to be removed to fix the magnet.
unfortunatly it sounds like you are having issues with the torque converter. it sounds like it is locking up all the time now. this requires the transmission to be taken out to change it i do not know what your experience is so not sure if you have the tools or knowledge to do it yourself.
