My Tailgate will not open. The lock depresses in , I hear a click but the tailgate winow will not open thus making the tailgate door stuck as well. The tailgate window needs to be lifted up before the door swings down. I have also used the interior tailgate opener button and can hear that click as well but still the Tail gate window remains stuck. The spare tire arm has no problem swinging open and the tailgate door wants to open but cannot until the tailgate window is open first. I live in snow country. Could it have froze or rusted? The snow is now all melted. And I have had no problems in the past with opening the tailgate other than the tailgate window never staying locked up after opening... How do I open the darn Tailgate?
Remove the interior trim panel which will not be easy since the gate is up ---- you can then access the lock mechanism and will probably find a bent linkage rod or a broken plastic retainer clip.
