I have the same exact problem...and it happens at the same point in my trip to school and home. Loses power, any throttle pops and farts, difficulty shifting...and then like magic it runs just fine as soon as the "check engine" light comes on. There must be a solution out there...my first thought was a speed sensor but I can't figure out the time interval thing along with the magic repair. HELP!!

sounds like there could be a problem somewhere along the fuel line either between the pump and that engine or between the filter and the engine i have a car that would do the same thing turned out to be the fuel filter was full of **** ran like a dream after i changed that.
Try replacing the fuel filter. Change your sparkers too, and MAKE SURE YOU GAP THEM PROPERLY. You can get a tool to do that at any auto parts store for about $1. I believe the accord needs to be gapped at .039 inches.
Yes, I always do the same thing when I buy a new vehicle that way I keep track of it and know exactly when it was done. first buy a new air filter, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, and maybe plug wires. check all belts and hoses. and change oil and filter. these things will pay for themselves. have fun. Wow a 91' with only 60,000 miles that's amazing. I've got 178,000 on my 93' accord lx and it's still running perfect!!
Try pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or similar tool. (careful not to dent the tank) Try starting it. If it runs, replace the fuel pump (it's nfg). I've diagnosed numerous fuel pumps this way. Remember the pump needs to be replaced, if you drive it, you don't know when it'll fail for good. Hope this helps. Please post the results.
