Usually the cable gets messed up when it becomes detached from the glass raising mechanism. If the cable is messed up, then new cables are needed, probably a new pulley also, which they don't make anymore. Best bet is buy a used regulator assembly from a junk yard or ebay. Replacing it yourself is a little tedious, but can be done by the do-it-yourselfer. Techcapri.com has manuals to reference for replacement procedure. Good luck, Chris

Chrysler 1999 Sebring rear window motor

I fixed my rear quarter panel window (driver's side) at no cost. I removed the assembly/window and thought I would have to replace the assembly and motor. Once I saw the price I began to investigte the problem with the original part. I removed the window from the assembly. (did not want to break it) I found that the cable was binding on the main pulley connected to the motor. I removed the three screws that held the pulley/motor housing. I removed the motor and plugged it back into the power supply and it worked. I realigned the cable and reinstalled the housing and motor. I plugged it into the power supply and it ran, but noticed that the cable was somewhat loose causing the cable to bind on the main pulley. If I kept tension on the cable it seemed to operate correctly. To keep tension on the cable, I put a plastic tie strap around the two cable parts just above the bottom cable guide (about 1 1/2 inch above cable guide) - pulling the strap until there was sufficient tension on the cable (not real tight). The strap kept tension the cable and the tension kept the cable from coming off the pulley when the widow operated. I bolted the window back on (do not over tighted the bolts or the window may break). Reinstalled everythng - checked the window alignment with the front window - tested the operation and it worked like new. I put everything back together and was able to fix my non working window for the price of a plastic tie and a couple of hours of figuring out the problem. I think I could do the whole process in less than an hour now. I would check out this solution before spending 175 for a new motor or 250 for a new assembly. [email protected]

How to rewind window wire

you can not. The regulator must be replaced. I think the Lincoln LS has the same regulator. Rears famous for the cable snapping. Same issue in front sometimes.

The rear door power window regulator may become inoperative, leaving the vehicle operator unable to raise or lower the rear window glass. In most instances, only the power window regulator mechanism requires replacement and the window motor can be reused.

Window on my 2005 lincoln ls fell and wont roll up

This is a common problem on the Lincoln Ls. The window regulator which has a plastic clip on it wears out and then just drops your window. Autozone sells the window regulator for a pretty decent price, around $90. When it happened to my Ls it was a simple swap to get my window back working. Although if your not mechanically inclined then you should find a mechanic to do it. Dealerships are way too expensive for such an easy task.

How do I know if my condensor caused my serpintene belt to break

What causes you to think it would be a component of the belt assembly. Have you had the belt changed recently. Reason I ask is, if these belt get cracks across the ribs, they are more prone to snap during start up or acceleration. It could be anyone of your pulley's that caused it to break. Check the pulleys and see if any are locked down, usually the compressor bearings fall out and cause the compressor to lock down. The Alternator pulley,. I'm not answering you questions, just giving you suggestions on where else to look.

I have a 1999 Mercury Sable. The only problem I have had with the car is the serpentine belt. It started 3 months ago . . . the engine was overheating and the belt was shredding. I bought a belt tensioner...

take the belt off and carefully check to see if any of the pulleys are out of line and check to make sure they spin smooth and true check for bearing wear and noise in any of the pulleys cause it sounds like simply there is a pulley out of line

Windows on lincoln ls

you will have to replace the whole regulator. check with your local used parts dealer for cheapest price. those regulators can range from 100 to 300 dollars and in some cause more. also for temp solution shove a piece of cardboard between inside window felt and glass to create pressure. it will help hold it up through the bumps

01 LS power window cable clips failed, window fell into the door

I've replaced 3 of the 4 window regulators on my 2001 Lincoln LS. It's a better idea to replace the whole regulator assembly then to repair one that is worn out or broken. It saves a lot of time and money in the long run. Look on the big online auction for a replacement. Be sure to check the sellers feedback score, and the price of shipping. I've bought all 3 of mine that way and haven't had any problems. Good Luck!
