SOURCE: engine starts for 3 seconds and then shuts down,

do you mean the engine runs for 3 second and it shut down completely, and you get no dash lights, radios, interior lights and so on... while the key is still in the ignitions? If that is the case have your ignition switch check, the same part where you stick the key in. The unit tend to go bad over period of time and looses its contact. there is really no way of testing it unless you take the unit apart and jump the connectors. Do this first, put the key in the ignition and wiggle turning the key back and forth at the same time by starting the car and see if you get any contact playing with ignition switch. when you stick the key in the ignition, does any instruments lights lit up when the key is turn to on position? if not than it will be the ignition switch. If all of the intrument light come on while the key is turn to on position, try this also, get a jump from a friend car to make sure the weak battery and alternator is good and working properly.

SOURCE: 1999 Chevy Lumina won't play any CD, display reads 'ERR'

Hi:
Unfortunately, the ERR is a disk read error, and usually caused by the laser being out of alignment. It seems in my experience that An aftermarket deck is a cheaper solution than having it repaired.

I replaced my ford Radio with another factory radio remaufactured. I plugged in the 2 plugs and the antennas, only the clock works. It will take CDs but won't play them, radio doesnt go to radio,

Modern automotive electronics are keyed to the VIN through the ECU to prevent theft, you must have the radio ID #, and key it into the radio with the number pads on the radio, only the dealership can retrieve the correct code for your vehicle. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Just bought a used truck it is a 1995 full size chevrolet it has a theft lock radio but does not work, the radio will not show any display not loc r lock there is a button u push it will show u the time...

If the clock will display for a few seconds that means it,(the clock) has power, and perhaps the entire unit. However, if the anti-theft is engaged, a dealer will be in your future. It will take them about a minute to un-lock the radio, or they will know if the radio no longer works.

I ha e a 1999 honda accord ex and had desconnect the battery and need to pull out the radio to get the number off to give it and vin # to honda so they can give me the code so I can play the radio, Is...

No, there two screw under trim and one behind the clock. The clock pop out with a flathead screwdriver. Try this first, with the key on and radio off.
hold down 1 and 6 on the audio unit.
Turn audio unit on while still holding down 1 and 6. look at the display. Sometime the display will show you the SN#
If i does display the SN#, the first half of the number will be display first and the second half will be display next.

Changing battery 2001 Lumina and radio lock up.

someone (hopefully you) set the 3 or 4 digit security code on the radio. when power is disconnected, like if someone steals your radio, the radio locks and cannot be used. the code can be from 000 to 1999. the hour and minute buttons are used to enter the numbers. 2000 choices - good luck
to unlock the system:
1 turn on ignition - LOC will appear
2 press MN and '000' will appear
3 press MN again until you see the last 2 digits of the code you want to try
4 press HR until you see the first 1 or 2 digit of the code you want to try
5 press AM FM
6 SEC will appear if you got it right - LOC will show if you got it wrong
good luck

My 2000 grand am anti theft radio is locked and I need help unlocking it

This solution is for a 1999 Grand Am SE am/fm radio with tape cassette player:
Ido not know if this works for other Grand Am products past or prior 1999.
If the lcd display of the radio indicates "LOC" if you do not see anything on the display the small light behind the display is out and you need electronics to go further. If LOC appears here is what to do:
First put the ignition key to the ACC position.
2- press the HR clock adjust button once only ; the display should read 000
3-push the HR button successively until you reach 17 on the radio displayffd4cd1.jpg 4-then press on the MN (minutes) button again until you reach the number 42
5-when the number 1742 appears on the display, press on the AM/FM button once and after on the POWER/VOL button to power up the radio.

I have a 1999 chevy lumina LTZ and i change the battery after that my cd player locked asking me a code so can u please help me how to unlock the code. Thank you

Search the net for "Delco unlock codes" OR "Delco security codes" you should easily find a set of instructions telling you to get a code from your radio and then call an 800 number. Follow these instructions. This will give you the factory unlock code for your stereo. Worked for me and for heaven sakes don't pay anybody for this information - it's free.
