Ask to speak with the dealer manager and voice your concerns about what is happening. Explain that you are not happy with the service and ask how much all this is going to cost. If his answers are airy and unsatisfactory then I suggest you enlist the aid of legal counsel to ensure you do not get ripped off.

I'm wondering if your injectors are leaking. If they are, and the car sits for a period of time like you're saying, fuel would puddle up and the car would run extremely rich until the excess puddled fuel burned off. Did you (or do you) notice black smoke from the tailpipe during the time the car is running really rough? Take a look and see - rev the engine if you need to, and see if you see some. It'd take a few minutes to burn off, and once it did, as long as the rest of the car is working right, you'd run normally. If you shut the car off for a short time (ie, getting gas, renting a movie) the car likely wouldn't sit long enough for enough fuel to puddle up for the condition to recur. If you park it overnight, that's plenty of time for the injectors to leak enough fuel for the car to run rough on startup.
No guarantee of course, but that's what sounds like a worthwhile investigation to me.

easy things to repair these so dont be scared ,chassis number is in the boot under something but some models vary .you cant do a lot with this vehicle yourself as its all encrypted software ,dealer only so you cant evan change the oil or the brake pads yourself as the immobiliser cuts in but apart from this small issue these are great cars for an urban enviroment and easy parking.with merc technology they last forever. But then all modern cars are going this way with regards to software so in ten years time their will not be any general garages just main dealers

It seems that you have a loose wire, bad connector or perhaps the main computer itself that is causing a problem If the shop is not seeing any codes, or codes come and go, likely I'm right...but someone is going to have to actually do some intensive testing to find the real cause. You can likely get another computer from a local scrapyard far cheaper than what the dealer will charge you...as far as wiring, you need a good accurate schematic a good volt/ohmeter and lots of time to trace wiring. When checking connectors test the pin, then probe the wire going into the pin...often the problem is where a wire meets the backside of the pin, either corroding or breaking..This also applies to any modules such as the security system...what you see on the dash does not always tell you that connection to components is good. This is not a "fix, but rather, a direction to go in. (exactly what I"d need to do if I was there)
Right now, everything is suspect including fuel system, till you rule it out!!!
