sounds like battery. when a car battery dies it is dead wasting time trying to recharge it.. Turn headlights on bright, turn heater blower motor on high watch lights, do the stay bright or start dimming. Try to start car with lights on are the going dim. If the headlights do not remain bright while starting car it is battery.
new batt if it is over 3 yrs old-needs to always be at 12.6 v--its not holding charge well--have it load tested--probly only gettn a surface charge onit-it will fool u
it sounds like your alternator may be bad or going bad recharge the battery start the vehicle and check the output of the charging system it should be around 14.4volts
Just because you charged the battery doesn't mean it held a charge or is capable of starting the car. To me it sounds like a dead battery or a bad cable. do you have a meter to check the voltage of the battery, if it is below 12 volt you are going to have trouble starting the car. The clicking is a sign of a weak battery or bad starter selenoid, no lights tell me a dead battery or like I said bad cable. Check all the cables from the battery to the starter and ground, look for looseness or corrosion.
The clicking and jumping has to do with a lack of available voltage in the battery. It should be at 100% (12.6 volts) You need to find out why the battery is going dead and you need to know that the charging system is fine. (while the car is running, vehicle is charging between 13.5 and 14 volts) Maybe a light is staying on in the glove box, under the hood, or in the trunk. But don't confuse symptoms, You need to find out why the battery is being drained down, after that the other complaints should disappear.
The clicking noise is most likly the starter solinoid cycling in and out. This is due to low battery voltage. charge the battery, then have the battery and charging system tested. Some auto supply stores will do this for free for you in the hopes of selling parts
