Just replaced 4l60e trans in 1995 gmc sierra it engages into reverse great but won't engage into drive it is a used trans with less than 100,000 miles. replaced both front and rear seals, filter and fuid? what could be the problem? Also there is a wire I can not find where it would plug in its not long enough to reach the back of it but don't see anywhere else it might plug in either
are you sure that the 4l60e is the same year and came out of the same kinda rig because they did chang a few things on them that wont interchange from year to year. but it is still listed as a 4l60e ford did the exact same thing with there 40deare you sure that the 4l60e is the same year and came out of the same kinda rig because they did chang a few things on them that wont interchange from year to year. but it is still listed as a 4l60e ford did the exact same thing with there 40de

replace switch under truck, light may need replaced also, when you put shifter into 4x4 h, place your trans lever into drive, then move forward, 4x4 will engage.
I have also personally seen/fixed a 4L60E that had a broken reverse servo piston,it is the piece that engages the low/reverse band under a cover in the valve body area,a piston with a band engagement pin. Anyone that has this problem can have it repaired in the vehicle, its worth checking BEFORE replacing the trans unless the fluid is burn't or there are other symptoms present. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to help
