I have a 1999 chrysler concord and the shift cable stuck while in gear, I cannot move the shifter up or down what is the problemwith the cable?

Check the shift cable where it attaches to the transmission. While moving the shifter, watch to see if the transmission is moving. If not, then check the connection on the shifter lever.

u gut some issues with the tv shift cable that is on the throttle body--ajust it--a mech manual shows u--library sec 629--if that doesnt du it then chec fluid level and cond-cud need changn-dont flush it tho--with older car-shift solenoids or valve body issue are common or more--maybe git it test driven by a honest mechanic

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

Some chrysler vehicle have a button in front of the ignition on the steering column that has to be pushed to remove the key other wise replced the ignition cylinder itself

unhook lincage at tranny and try shifting it unhocked if it shifts it inthe linckage someware cable or shift lever most likley linckage if it dont move at tranny its in the tranny

sounds like you might have disconnected the shifter cable or even broken it you must have it checked out or jack it up and do it yourself not to hard to look for the cable on the side of the tranny.good luck

it sounds like your gearshift cable is broken..if you can jack up vehicle and support it safely,get someone to move shifter and look on driver's side of transmission and see if linkage is moving on trans..linkage is up near top of trans..i have seen this problem before

You car needs to be put on a rack and the shifting linkages need to be inspected for loose or misaligned components.

Change the shift cable (cable from shifter to transmission) Also spray some WD40 on the shift linkage on the trans and work it back and forth to loosen it up before you put the new cable on. Good luck
