99 Honda Accord and Prelude Transmissions Interchangeability

Hello,

I am an owner of 1999 Honda Accord LX with 2.3l engine type F23A. Because of recent automatictransmission failure, I ordered a used automatic transmission for my Accord. Instead,I received transmission (model M6HA) for 97-01 Honda Prelude with 2.2lengine type H22A. The merchant insists that both transmissions arefully interchangeable, but I noticed several differences between themthat made me concerned, especially lack of 3rd Gear Pressure Switch onPrelude transmission that is present on Accord transmission.
Are both transmissions indeed interchangeable?
Can I install the 97-01 Prelude automatic transmission (model M6HA) on 99 Accord with 2.3l engine and expect it to work fine?

I would really appreciate your honest, expert opinion in this matter.

Sincerely,

Stan

Wrong ! The h22a trans will bolt up and work far better than the accord trans. The luxe teams is geared much better. I did an Auto to manual swap on my 99 lude because I was building and wasting automat trans. 2 in 10.000 miles. At first I had an accord trans and the car was slow. As soon as I got the life trans on it was night and day. Lude trans is the way t go it was also cheaper to do the manual swap than it was to jus replace the auto trans.

But I also did a obd computer swap w alot of tuning so that may be an issue.

The trans will actually bolt up to the engine..but it will not work properly without the pressure switch plugged in to the harness... if u notice, there is a hole with no threads in the prelude trans..u couldnt even thread a 3rd gear pressure switch in the trans case..trust me ive seen it b4 at the dealer where i work.. i even went as far as installing the trans and when going back together, saw the difference when trying to plug the harness in...its not the same..i laugh about it now, but was very mad at myself at the time for assumeing the parts guy brought me the right part..the guy with the prelude was about to install my accord  trans in his prelude ...luckily i was able to stop him b4 he installed my trans in his prelude...i laugh about it now

I have a 2002 honda accord sedan lx. the transmission is not doing right, and i noticed i dont have to push the button to change from drive 4 to drive 3. also i had a transmission flush 2 months ago...

Shifter in my 99 Honda goes from D4 to D3 without pushing button also. I 'NEVER' recommend flushing transmissions, it will always cause problems. I've been rebuilding transmissions for 25 years now, flushing causes all the buit-up contaminates to stop up the filter, which cannor be changed on Hondas. I have to admit though I get 'ALOT' of work since the introduction of flushing machines. Good luck.

What mileage or duration should I change the transmission oil of my 1999 Honda accord (HONDA ACCORD 1999)

My Accord V6 '99 has over 215,000. You can use synthetic transmission oil if its zr1 compatible. I change mine every 60,000 or so. Its 3 qts for the v6. The nissan maximas are the ones that have transmissions that generally dont last past 120,000 miles. Why do you still see many 98 and 99 accords still on the road Carlos?
If yours went at 70,000 than you need to buy a haynes manual and keep up with the maintenance on your car. By the way. Honda Accords are notorious for running fine after 200,000 miles. The parts are easy access and if you use a cheap obd2 scanner you can zero in on any problem with the car.

Where is the oild filter for a 99 honda accord lx

On the back side of the engine. If you stand on the side of the car (either side will do) and look between the back of the engine and the firewall you'll see it.
