The instrument cluster dimmer switch is either faulty, or may simply need to be unplugged and reconnected. I have seen this many, many times on vehicles. Over time and with use, the connections lose connectivity due to the lack/depletion/dissipation of electrical contact grease that is used from the factory for electrical connections. When you have removed the dimmer switch, and unplugged it, spray the connections on the wiring harness, as well as the switch with either electrical contact spray, or WD40, reconnect and start to move the dimmer control as far as it will turn in both directions. If that isn't the issue, I would recommend that you remove the instrument cluster, and check the bulbs, and connections. (Bad bulbs, especially all of them at once, is rarely the case.) If the bulbs are good and the connections are clean and making a solid connections from the wiring harness to the instrument cluster, you are looking at buying a dimmer switch.
I hope that you have found this information to be useful, and if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. Thank you for using fixya!
SOURCE: My dash lights don't work.
this got easy after a while 2 ways, i had friends who would not take the time to spend 8dollars to buy a harness connector for a new cd player and would splice everything together like takeing the red and yellow wires and connecting them all together as one. this drains ur battery unless ur cd player can completly power down by the power button not all do... but keep this in mind on GM cars the 2 wires of the same wires like purple the one with a black stripe is ground they go together stripe on stripe also there is 2 extra wires one is ORANGE and BROWN u dont need these dont even mess with them even if u have a connector block them off THESE TWO COLORS IS FOR FACTORY STEREO IF SO THESE WIRES CAN AND WILL MAKE IT SO U DONT HAVE DASH LIGHTS so always buy a connector ond dont mess with these wires block them off and dont ground them out.

you have a short in the circuit somewhere. look for a wire that has been rubbing on something or has come lose and is grounding out.

Do you have power with a test light in and out of the switch? Do the turn signals work? Will the brake lights work if you play with the turn signal handle?
