SOURCE: Toyota Avalon XLS, yr 2000, engine lights on

P0171 is a lean code. Open the hood, and locate the mass air flow sensor. Small black thingy in the intake tube between the air filter box and the engine, held in with 2 small screws. Remove the connector, remove the screws, and remove the sensor. Look into the sensor, you are going to see a couple of wires deep inside it. They will probabaly be "fuzzy" looking. Spray some brake cleaner on the wires until they are nice & clean. This will cure the P0171 code. Then check the air filter; replace it if it is dirty.

P1130 is an air-fuel sensor code, bank one, sensor one. More often than not, when we see this code, we replace the air-fuel sensor. Buy the replacement from you Toyota dealer, because the aftermarket sensors will not send the proper signal to the ECU, and you will be upset for having to buy a second sensor.

P0440 is a leak in the evaporative side of the fuel system; this looks after the fumes of the fuel in the tank. There are several reasons for seeing a P0440, like leaking vacuum lines, faulty fuel cap, rusty fuel filler tube at the cap, etc. This is kind of difficult to rectify without the proper equipment needed to diagnose what & where the actual leak is.
Hope this helps, please consider kind remarks regarding this solution. Thanks.

SOURCE: check engine light on;engine codes p0420 and p0773

I looked up the codes you posted.
P0420 is showing a bad oxygen sensor on bank #1, the one down by the catalytic converter.
P0773 is an electrical problem with the shift solenoid E.
A bad oxygen sensor would cause lower fuel milage.

SOURCE: The check engine light produced codes p1150 and

All cars sold in the US after 1995 use the same on board diagnotics called OBD-II. The codes are the same. Search OBM-II error codes and you'll get a listing.

P1150 Air/Fuel Sensor Circuit Range/Performance. (cylinder bank 1 Sensor 2)

P1150 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
water or corrosion in the O2 sensor connector, loose terminals in the connector, wiring burnt on exhaust components, open or short in the wiring due to rubbing on engine components, holes in exhaust allowing unmetered oxygen into exhaust system, unmetered vacuum leak at the engine, bad O2 sensor or bad PCM.

P1155 Air/Fuel Sensor Heater Circuit. (cylinder bank 1 Sensor 2)
P1155 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: O2 Heater element resistance is high, Internal short or open in the heater element or O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance

Solution :Replace oxygen sensor and see if the problem goes away.

Srs light is on . called auto zone local and they said they cannot do a diagnostics for srs. did I ask the wrong question?

Need to get fault codes for the vehicle. Generally the problem is a loose contact on the plug, be it under the seat or air bag on steering wheel.

We have a 2005 Toyota Avalon. The warning light of car and key flashed, now vechile will not start. Why?

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Antilock brake system.TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module

Check engine light is on. Air Fuel Sensor1 (Bank

It sounds like you have an air leak in the air horn, check out the air filter compartment, make sure it is on there tight, no cracks, make sure there are no cracks in the air horn, the rubber to the throttle, make sure all the hoses are connected, and not making noises. One thing you can do is spry wd-40 on the intake manifold at the gasket line and make sure it doesn't leak there, if it levels out or changes idle it is leaking. A spray bottle of water will do the same thing. Check it out.

How to reset the check engine light on a 1999 toyota avalon xls

You need to have a code reader/scan tool hooked up to retrieve the code/s that triggered the engine light. You can have this done at most auto parts stores for free. Try Auto zone, Checkers, Napa, or Murray's. The engine light will eventually go out if the computer does not receive any codes after many cycles turning the ignition on and off. It will not go out if there are codes still present. After you've retrieve the code/s bring them back here and we will have a better understanding of what caused them.
