I lost my keys to my 95 Grand Prix gtp special edition 2 door 3.4 liter. I tried to pop the ignition. Does it have a chip or not?

Your vehicle has a resistor pellet on metal part of the key .side of the key. Contacts inside the ignition lock cylinder read this resistance ,if the theft-deterrent module reads the correct resistance it will allow the vehicle to start an run.

Ignition on my 2004 jeep grand Cherokee is locked, how do I unlock the ignition? Keys goes in ignition, door chim works when key is in ignition. But the key won't turn it's stuck.

tap the ignition lock cylinder with the plastic end of a scrwedriver (with the key removed). then insert the key and try to start. Try this several times. If you get it to turn immediately replace the igntion lock cylinder. The cylinder needs to be in the on position in order for the lock button to be depressed so that the cylinder can be removed from the housing.

If you still can't get it to turn than you will have to drill out the lock button in order to get the old lock cylinder out. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you have some experience and understand what you are doing.

The lock button can be accessed by removing the lower steering column cover.

Husband lost key to car and I need to know how I can remove the ignition so it can be replaced

Cirrus, Stratus, Sebring Convertible and Breeze CAUTION
The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before working around the steering column. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bags, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.
  1. Disarm the air bag system, as described in Scetion 6.
  2. Remove the upper steering column shroud.
  3. Pull down the lower steering column shroud enough to access the lock cylinder retaining tab.
  4. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
  5. Insert a small prying tool into the tab access hole and depress the tab. Fig. 1: Depress the retaining tab and remove the lock cylinder 90908g36.gif

  6. Pull the ignition lock cylinder from the steering column. To install:
  7. With the ignition key in the lock cylinder, turn the key to the RUN position. Depress the lock cylinder retaining tab. Fig. 2: The shaft at the end of the ignition lock cylinder lines up to the socket at the end of the lock cylinder housing 90908g37.gif

  8. The shaft at the end of the ignition lock cylinder lines up to the socket at the end of the lock cylinder housing. The socket must be in the RUN position for the socket and lock cylinder to line up.
  9. Line up the lock cylinder to the grooves in the lock cylinder housing. Insert the ignition lock cylinder into the housing until the retaining tab sticks through the opening in the housing.
  10. Lightly pull on the ignition lock to make sure it has engaged the retaining tab.
  11. Turn the key to the OFF position. Remove the ignition key.
  12. Install the steering column covers.
  13. Arm the air bag system, as described in Section 6.
Sebring Coupe and Avenger NOTE: For information on removing/installing the Ignition Lock Cylinder, refer to the Ignition Switch removal and installation procedure, earlier in this section. prev.gif next.gif

To program the transmitters, perform the following procedure while seated in the vehicle driver's seat:

Close all the vehicle doors.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Press and hold unlock on the door lock switch.
Important: To successfully enter the keyless entry programming/diagnostic mode, steps 4 through 6 must be completed within 25 seconds of pressing the door unlock switch.

While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, insert and remove the ignition key twice. Do not rotate the ignition lock cylinder.
Insert the ignition key a third time leaving the key in the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition must remain in the LOCK position for the rest of the procedure.
Release the door lock switch. The chime will sound three chimes to signal that transmitter programming/diagnostic mode is active.
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time on the keyless entry transmitter for approximately 4 seconds. The chime will sound two times to signal that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.
To exit the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode perform either of the following:
• Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

• Remove the ignition key from the ignition switch
