Probably your spark plugs or spark plug wires......
change spark plug and try it if surge occur
check air filter too
I have already done that. Do u think it may be a fuel injection sensor? I have done so much work on it myself and it is still surging and putting out codes for cam/crank shaft sensor
I have already done that. Do u think it may be a fuel injection sensor? I have done so much work on it myself and it is still surging and putting out codes for cam/crank shaft sensor and I have changed the air filter which was much needed and air duct hose... Thanks for the help tho.. Anymore guesses?
for fuel injection sensor no I don't think. you have a cam/crank sensor fault. Don't gave up you near the solution around the cam sensor inside engine check for the magnet not touching the sensor. And follow wires from sensor on engine if burn or short to ground
What is that? Can u explain in a little more detail sorry to be such a bother ...I am doing it myself and I'm enjoying fixing my car. If only I can fix the problem so I need to check the wires that run to my camshaft and crankshaft sensors?
have a look to this page it could help you.
Thank u soo much

SOURCE: Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd 4.3 vortec rough idle tried everything I know
I had the same problem with my 96 Chevy 4.3. It idled rough enough to shake the truck at a stop. It revved up fine but sputtered on take off. My truck did not want to stay in overdrive because of the low rev. I changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires and this did nothing. Finally I took the intake off and found corrosion on the side intake gaskets near the rear of the engine causing a vacuum leak.

This is actually an easy swap out. Remove the electrical connection, remove the retaining bolt and pull out old one. I believe the sensor is located in the front passenger side of the engine on this particular model.

If your idle is going from 500rpms to 1000rpm's fluctuating at and idle your EGR valve is probably carbon up and needs cleaned or replace.

check the crank sensor. no signal from the crank sensor causes a no spark condition. best way to check is to put a scanner on and check for rpms.
the crank sensor is differnt from the cam sensor
