Brake noise I have a 2008 Rav4 Limited V6. Often (but not always) when braking, there is a rubbing noise with a very slight vibration under the driver's feet- probably coming from the wheel. I took it in to the dealer, and they checked the car, and the brake pads. They did not hear the noise, and said I still have 1/8 of an inch on the brake pad. What to do?

Noise from the front drive axle can mean many things, so I'm going to describe and give you some ideas based on the types of noises that can come from that area. 1. (WORN CV AXLES) Most common in front wheel drive cars. This is typically is a rumbling or ticking noise heard while turning the steering wheel. It should be addressed immediataly to prevent a loss of steering. If you suspect this a is problem it can be easiliy checked by a mechanic. Someone you know who can safely get under the front of the car and check each axle for broken grease boots and shake/twist the axle checking for a loose joint (but that will not guarantee there is not a problem - this should be done by an experienced mechanic). 2. (BAD BRAKES) Less likely is a brake problem. Brakes would be a loud rubbing noise, but more so when appying the brakes. 3. Lastly, if it sounds like a rattling when you go over bumps or any slight divits in the road, it is possible you may have a broken shock absorber. Best of luck with your car repair!

I have a 2008 chevy cobalt sport and I just replaced both front struts and spri gs because my car would vibrate horribly only when stopping. This helped but didn't fix all of the vibration. Help please!

As you have described the vibration is present only under brakes I would check your front brake rotors for hot spots as they may be slightly buckled. *This is a topic to debate over but I would not recommend getting buckled brake rotors machined. The metal is fatigued and could crack. Get replacement rotors. If you drive your car hard, upgrade to slotted and cross drilled rotors with ceramic pads to aid heat dissipation.

Rubbing noise on rear brake 2008 g5

Disc or caliper? Age and miles on brakes? Front brakes do 70% of stopping power. Obviously, disc or drum is rubbing. If disc, probably need to replace caliper.

Automatic 2008 Rav4 Knocking noise when braking

The noise will be in the brake disc rotors and could be the inside face cracked . Have a brake specialist shop do the check as the knocking noise under brakes will have nothing to do with a transmission.

Rubbing noise from front of car

It could be your brakes. Your brakes are always rubbing lightly. Pull your front wheels off one at a time, and feel the rotor, to see if there are any gouges in it. Do not do this after you have just driven a distance though, that brake will be hot. Check that first though. Are there any vibrations when you press the brake at slow or high speeds?

I have a noise and slight vibration coming from my front end

Possible have a caliber not retracting all the way and the brake shoe is slightly scrubbing the rotor. Don't overlook the possibility of wheel bearings or CV joints.

Rear driver wheel has light reubbing noise when car in motion goes away when brakes are engaged. Is this brakes or barrings problem? Cost of repair?

hi this sounds like your brake pads have worn, or the brake shoes as well, if you have drum brakes on the back it will be shoes, if disk brakes will be pads+shoes (inside the disk) if it was the wheel bearing you would hear a loud humming noise not rubbing noise, is it a metallic rubbing noise or a rubber squeaking rubbing noise? just check condition of tyre on back if it is the squeaking rubber noise cost will depend on where you take it and if you do it yourself, possibly $40 to $50 at a garage/auto shop or possibly $20 to $30 if you do it yourself, this just depends ...hope this helps
