TRANSMISSION INTERCHANGE QUESTION BOTH ARE MANUAL 5 SPEEDS SAME ENGING BLOCK. Will the 1993DX PROTEGE'S SOHC TRANSMISSION; 1.8 L-4 LITER 1993 TRANSMISSION. 5 SPEED MANUAL; INTERCHANGE INTO 1990 THRU 1994LX 1.8 L-4 LITER SAME ENGINE BLOCK? HAVE 1990 LX PROTEGE 1.8DOHC 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHICH IS HUNG UP IN 5TH GEAR. HAVE LOCATED 1993 MAZDADX WITH 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION..BOLT . STARTER MOUNTS PATTERS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME...NEW COMPLETE CLUTCH SET WILL INTERCHANGE WITH EITHER SINGLE OVERHEAD CAM OR DUAL OVERHEAD CAM ENGINE. I PERSONALY REBUILT THIS ORGINAL 1.08 DOHC ENGINE..USED 1994 MITA L-4 BLOCK. HAD TO GET A OIL PUMP FOR SINGLE OVER HEAD CAM ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO THE DOHC OIL PUMP CRANK GEAR WAS TOO LARGE.....LONG STORY SHORT THINK THE FACTORY INSTALLED SOHC ENGINE BLOCK WITH THE DOHC!! Yes the 1993 manual transmission will fit your 1990 mazda protege,or if you find a kia sephia 1997 manual transmission it will be even better because its a short shifter (it will be faster) you will have to change the axles though, and yes it fits, kia and mazda are the same but not all.

What size motor does a 1993 mazda mx3 have?

The MX-3 came with three engine options: a 1.5 L I4 (only found in the Autozam AZ-3), a 1.6 L I4 and a 1.8 L V6. The 1.6 L was available in two versions, an 88 hp (66 kW) SOHC/16-valve B6-ME unit which powered 1992 and 1993 models, or a 106 hp (79 kW) DOHC/16-valve B6-D unit which was found in 1994 and later models. The Japanese market DOHC/16-valve B5-ZE produced 115-120 PS (85-88 kW) (lower powered in automatic versions) and the most powerful DOHC 24-valve V6 K8-DE produced 140 PS (103 kW) at 7,000 rpm (Japan) and 130 hp in North American models. All were available with a 5-speed manual or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission, depending upon the market.

Just wondering if you have a breakdown diagram for a 1992 dodge colt 1.5l distributer

I do not have a breakdown diagram for a distributor, but just the firing orders and description of ignition system for the Dodge Colt and related models (based on Chilton manuals) if that's what you're looking for: FIRING ORDERS Fig. 1: 1990 1.8L SOHC Engines Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Rotation: clockwise 84182009.gif

Fig. 2: 1.6L DOHC Engine Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Distributorless Ignition 84182010.gif

Fig. 3: 2.0L Engine Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Rotation: clockwise 84182011.gif

Fig. 4: 1.5L Engine Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Rotation: counterclockwise 84182012.gif

Fig. 5: 1993 1.8L Engine Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Rotation: counterclockwise 84182013.gif

Fig. 6: 2.4L Engine Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Rotation: clockwise 84182014.gif

To avoid confusion, replace spark plug wires one at a time. --- Distributor REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Although the distributor can be removed from the engine no matter which cylinder is about to fire, it is a good idea to have number one cylinder at TDC before distributor removal. 1.5L, 1.8L, 2.4L SOHC Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect and tag the spark plug wires from the distributor cap.
  3. Disconnect the distributor harness connector.

Fig. 4: Ignition system for the 2.4L engine 84183004.gif

  4. Loosen the distributor retaining bolt and remove the distributor from the engine. To install:
  5. Rotate the engine until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on its compression stroke. NOTE: Be careful not to turn it to the No. 4 cylinder TDC on its compression stroke by mistake.
  6. Align the distributor housing and gear mating marks.

Fig. 7: Distributor installation for the 1992-93 1.8L engine 84183007.gif

  7. Install the distributor into the engine, while aligning the fine cut (groove or projection) on the distributor flange with the center of the distributor mounting stud.
  8. Install and tighten the distributor retaining bolt.
  9. Reconnect the distributor harness connector.

  10. Install the distributor cap and spark plug wires.
  11. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Motor mount

The engine mounts are located about the middle of the block on the side of the engine. The only other mount is located under transmission.
