1994 Metro Geo rough idling and lagging up hills

I have a 1994 metro geo with a rebuilt engine in it, have had it for a little over 2 years and have put about 150,000 miles on it. I have had a problem with it recently to where it will lag going up hills, and has noticed a rough idling. We have replaced the spark plugs and bought a new air filter and had a oil change and oil filter, and also have had a fuel injection cleaner put into it. What should I do next?

Do some diagnosticks first before you spend any more money.

    Compression test

    Vacume test

Fuel pressure test, before and after the fuel filter.

Then note the reults and we can take it from there.

Dunno if it'll fix it- but check your pcv valve - 5$ for a new one - also check your egr valve- should be able to move depress it with your finger- if not, carb cleaner is safe to use to clean it up- remove it and clean it. this should help the idle

I took motor/tranny out of well maintained/well running 1994 Geo metro xf and installed them in a 1995 geo metro LSI. everything went well i had to use the 1995 intake and throttle body due to wiring...

Yes, because the specs are different... most manufatures change the specs on vehicles every four years, so 90-94 is most likely all the same, but then you will have 95-99 an so on an so on.. Good Luck

Laging 1994 metro geo that is losing horse power

If your geo is losing power ,first thing to do is a comprision test .
if its testing any thing below 100 psi you may have to replace the piston rings.

1994 geo metro

It's actually super easy.
All you need is your year and make alternator belt and a wrench.
Take off the existing altenator, take off the old belt.
Once the altenator is off you'll be able to look further down below where the altenator was. You'll see a metal wheel that's a little bigger than the one on the altenator. This is where the new belt needs to wrap around.
I found it alot easier to wrap the belts around the two wheels before putting the altenator back on the engine.
Make sure that all bolts and seals are sound. (that's the last thing you need falling off in the middle of nowhere!)
Hope it helped!
