I just fitted an 02 simulator to my corolla and left the batt leads off
for 10 minutes then reconnected. The engine turns over but will not
fire up.. it doesn't even try to fire (like when there is a slight
problem such as low on gas and the car nearly starts a couple of times
ect.)
The battery terminals are nice and tight. The battery is good.
There
is a little red button with LED been fitted under the dash to the car
at some point in its history. when you hold the red button for 4
seconds the LED comes on. When you hold the red button for 4 seconds
again the LED goes off, but still the car will not start.... I tried
turning the ignition lights on and pressing the button a few times and
trying to start it but nothing. I tried locking and unlocking the doors
a few times and the same thing happens....
I have only a normal key for the car. (Not a remote locking fob one)
Could this be an imobilizer?
Please help!!!!!!
I had the same problem, i had to remove the whole alarm system to get my car to start, when you unattatch the battery cables, the alarm notices the battery drain and sets the alarm off, i have no idea how much the dealership would charge for a new remote, but im sure its pricey, i would recommend just removing the alarm system, temporarily, until you can get a new remote. Good luck and god bless
