The only thing would do for the stripped bolts is to retap them with a tap & die set using the next larger size. As for the one that's broken off you can use what's called an "Easyout". You drill a hole into the broken off part of the bolt and then insert the Easyout. The Easyout has left hand threads and as you turn it , it bites into the broken bolt and usually will take it right out.

Hope this helps.

Good luck Loringh

SOURCE: need location of thermostat in 98 saturn sl series

Front of the motor, low, in the fitting where the radiator hose goes into the motor; not the one on the drivers side. The fitting is rounded and is held on with two bolts.

What is the head bolt torque spec on a 94 Saturn sc1 with an 1.9 engine

You will need a torque angle gague to properly torque these bolts. The torque for a SOHC engine is 22lb in correct sequence on the first pass and 37lb in correct sequence on the second pass. You need then install a torque angle gague and in sequence go 90 degrees

there are 2 different 1.9 engines, so for future ref, you need the 8th digit of the VIN number. use NEW bolts. torque to 22 ft lbs. then turn 90 degrees, then another 90 degrees.

1996 Saturn SL 1. Does the crankshaft pulley bolt requeire sealer?

According to a book, I don't know, but my rule of thumb is to put red loctite (Loctite 277) on all bolts for flywheel or anything ataching to the crank that I don't want comming off. Then again I work on diesel applications so my rule of thumb for auto could be off base. One thing though, when using loctite you take the dry torque spec of the bolt and multiply by 75% or 0.75 and that is your new torque spec. also anything touching a crankshaft or camshaft i would sugest using new bolt and or nuts.

Engine torque specs for 1996 chevy cavalier 2.2l

For 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L SFI OHV 4cyl the check the next Head Bolt Torque sequence...

------------ front | 8 4 1 5 9 | of | | engine | 7 3 2 6 10 | ------------

Step 1: torque long bolts 8,4,1,5, & 9 to 46 Ft/Lbs torque short bolts 7,3,2,6, & 10 to 43 Ft/Lbs
Step 2: torque all bolts an additional 90 degrees Recheck final torque in sequence

*** CAUTION *** engine uses Torque To Yield head bolts (TTY) that permanently stretch during the initial installation. New head bolts must be used when cylinder head is replaced or re-installed to obtain proper torque.

Hope helps (remnember rated this).

Need how to repair head gasget 1993 saturn 1.9li

head gasket repair requires stripping the entire motor down to the block, and replacing every gasket in your way down, as well as the head bolts (torque-to-yield).

the way the saturn timing components are ran i would not suggest this unless you are heavily mechanically inclined. theres alot of tedious tear down as well as torqueing to spec on the build back up.

if you have the time, patients and know how to do it i would say go ahead, but if you are hesitant i would get someone else to do it.

to finally answer ur question any hanes or mitchell repair manual will tell you how to dissasemble and reassamble your engine step by step.

Need to find specks on cylingder head for 1996 toyota tercel

The cylinder head bolt torque is a 2 step process.

First: Torque all of the bolts to 45 Nm (450 Kgf-cm or 33 ft lbs.)
Replace any head bolt that will not torque to the above specs.

Second: after all ten bolts are torqued to the above specs, the head bolts are then "Torqued to Distance"...

Starting at the center bolts, retorque all ten bolts an additional 90 degrees.

Hope this helps, the graciousness of a FixYa rating would be greatly appreciated.
