three squirts of washing up liquid ,has to be fairy not a cheap one ,half a litre of diesel all added to the engine oil ,run for a couple of days as normal and the noise will diminish ,Then change oil and filter but use a 10/40 detergent oil suitable for a turbo diesel ,the cheapest you can buy ,now change oil every 6000m with a oil filter every third oil change .You have a noisey hydraulic tappet nothing more which is fairly common on this engine and its caused by not changing the oil enough and using expensive long life oil which causes problems like yours by allowing the combustion residue to accumulate within the internal workings of your engine ,
plastic feed tube in the rubber boot from door frame to tailgate is damaged ,well this is the most obvious fault ,but a jaguar estate car and i bet its diesel as well ?? not like a nice mk2 3.8 with overdrive or a XJ6 is it
