The speedometer cable broke! thats what your odometer runs off too and they route into the transmission so maybe try looking there for the problem.

Speedometer won't work at all.

If the speedometer and odometer are both dead, the problem is usually the speed sensor in the transmission.
If only the speedometer is dead, the speedometer and cluster may have to be repaired or replaced.

My check gauges light came on and my gas gauge, temp gauge, speedometer and of course odometer are not working.

Mine has done this a few times after having disconnected the battery for service. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery a second time brought them back. A mechanic friend told me it hase something to do with the ECM relearning after having been disconnected. Hope this helps.

Speedometer error on 1993 Plymouth Voyager with 3.3L V6

Have you called transmission place? Did they also install it? Ask them if they changed speedometer adapter, and mention the difference in speed.

Instrument Cluster Problem

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had the same problems you describe.

I cured it by removing part of the dashboard and cleaning/checking all electrical connections.

Any black leads that connect to the metalwork .. they are earth wires. Check them for corrosion and as they are usually just held in place by a screw - undo that screw and retighten it. A 'bad earth' can cause the problems you describe.
