The alternator on my 2002 Pontiac Montana went bad and had to be replaced. While it was going bad, I lost the ability to unlock the doors with the armrest actuators, (switches) This is true for both the drivers and the passenger door switches. The locking function works fine as does the key fob control for both lock and unlock. Help

The alternator is not connected to the door locks so is a separate issue. Your issue is likely because you left the windows open in the rain and water gets into the door lock buttons (switches) and this is the faulty area. Replace the door lock buttons themselves from a junk yard. the drivers side buttons will effect the passenger side one so only replace the drivers side, they usually just pop out easily, pry up gently from one end or the other.

For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.

It may just be a bad connection in the switch of the drivers door since it works with the wireless remote

put your ear to the door and try to open it with the remote, if you hear it trying to open, then most likely you door lock actuator is bad and needs replacement. It may have disconnected itself from the door lock lever as well, but i suggest opening up the door panel to better ***** the situation. It all points to the actuator.

2005 Pontiac Montana Battery runs down overnight if voltmeter on the dash indicates a charging rate of 1q4.9 volts of higher. Bad sticking? voltage regulator?

Replace the alternator, bad diodes in it allow the battery to discharge. Most all alternators now have built in regulators.

Answer:

It's in the owners manual under power door. I believe you pull the fuse under the hood for 15 sec with the overide switch in the off position. ...(roesterman adds...).My power door was opening all the way then closing immediately. I used this method to reset door and it worked! This started happening after I had some body work done to vehicle..maybe they disconnected battery or something. Delay locking was locking doors before slider was closing too. This left the door unlocked. I haven't tested to see if this has been corrected by reset yet.

2002 Pontiac Montana drivers side door lock switch doesn't work and it is not the switch where else should I look?

sounds like a bad wire you may have to do a test back on that line to see if theres a bad connection. If you have a tester you can see if your getting power to the plug.

Drivers window in pontiac montana 2002 went down and will not come back up. how do i test to see if the switch is working. The right window is functioning very well.

Most likely the window motor/regulator assembly has gone bad.Check for good fuse, if good pull out the switch and make sure you have power to it, if you do then remove door panel and test for power at motor, if u have power but motor won't work replace. Suggest replacing the regulator assembly as well because the cables often fray and cause problems as well.

2002 pontiac montana passanger pwr window

I beleive you need to change the Power Window Switches Module in the drivers side door panel, as these connections are interlinked within this module and it is usually the first part that fails. Especially that you already changed the switches & motor in the passenger door and it still does not work. Once you remove the dual switch module in the driver's side door, you will understand what I mean. Plus it is really easy to access. Good luck! I have the same model, Claude

2002 Pontiac Montana. Got home turned van off. Went to get in it to go somewhere about 1/2 later it wouldnt start. Jumped it from another car and it started. Let it run a few minutes and turned it of and...

by the sounds of it the altanator is putting out enough voltage to keep the car running I my self don't think that it's the alt but the battery, if you don't know the age than it's not a bad idea to replace the battery. if the problem is still there than I would test the alt, should be putting out 14.6 volt at all times. but replace the battery first.

Replaceing alternator on 2000 pontiac montana

I can help with this problem, I just today had to remove my alternator on our 2003 Montana van. Here is how it is done, first disconnect the wiper motor wires and assembly then the two wiper rods (flat) needs to be loosened and disconnected, next comes the pipe cross member that when removed will also remove the complete wiper assembly. The bad thing is, after you do all this and the alternator is not the problem. Which in my case it wasn't. I hope this helps all who are having this problem.
