It is in the dash board behind the glove compartment and inside the ventilation duct. It is held in by one screw and has a flat plug going into it. To access it, removed the glove compartment housing and the panel beneath the glove box. Then remove the SRS air back plate which has 3 nuts holding it on. The you will be able to see the blower motor and resistor. The dash board comes apart with a torx bit, I forget the size.

near the blower motor, by the back of the cockpit there should be a resisotor that has about 3-6 wires going to it that is mounted in the air box, they mount it in here so that air flowing through the system cools the resistor making it last longer, if this did not help i will search my manual for a more precise location.

It is the resistor that is causing that.
It requires replacement, attempting to repair it is not advisable.
The resistor is bottom connector (h2) in the picture:

factory ? or after market air? factory is under the dash near the glove box i think aftermarket is inside the under dash unit!
