With all timing belts, chains, gears, and so on, there are usually markings on the pulleys/gears to match up with the engine to set the timing. One for the valves/cam, and one for the crankshaft...as well as the tensioner, and so on. try looking under a magnifying glass for distinct markings on these gears/pulleys for a proper timing adjustment.

There is no set mileage to change a head gasket. You only replace the gasket if you have a problem with it. Change the timing belt as outlined in your owners manual. If you do not have an owner's manual, then call your local Land Rover dealer for the correct mileage to change the belt.
