Need to know how to attach parts under dash on 1988 f150 from brooster tobrake pedal so brake lights dont stay on

I'd have to check the stop lamp switch. It should be activated by the brake pedal arm. W/o being able to look at your vehicle at your vehicle, I can't tell you how to get at it? The lite green wire in diagram should not be hot unless you press the brake pedal. If you lift up on brake pedal does the brake lamp go out? If it does go out, maybe you can adjust brake switch, possible problem with brake switch or connector?
The voltage for brakes is wired through multifunction switch, that is something else to check. At the rear, your brake lamps and turn signal use the same bulb filament, just not at the same time.

I have a 2002 Grand Cherokee, and the brake warning light comes on at ignition, and stays on. What could be causing this?

omg what country, and which lamp there is not just one lamp.
"brake indicator used for vehicles manufactured
for the United States consists of the word
"BRAKE" imprinted on a red lens"
and
The Rest-Of-World
(ROW) market version of this indicator has two
International Control and Display Symbol icons
imprinted on the red lens; one is the icon for "Brake
Failure", and the other is the icon for "Parking
Brake".

why not read the manual first, or is guessing how it works fun?

posted it like 300 times now.
again, on one RED BRAKE warning lamp. (not ABS)
WJ jeep 99-04
see brakes chapter 3 covers it all.
the diffr pressure valve sets the red brake light on

"The parking brake switch is in circuit with the red
warning lamp in the dash.
The switch will cause the
lamp to illuminate only when the parking brakes are
applied. If the lamp remains on after parking brake
release, the switch or wires are faulty.
If the red lamp comes on a fault has occurred in
the front or rear brake hydraulic system.
If the red warning lamp and yellow warning lamp
come on, the electronic brake distribution may be at
fault.
In most cases, the actual cause of an improperly
functioning parking brake (too loose/too tight/won't
hold), can be traced to a parking brake component."
so unplug it to see that its not CAUSE.

parting shot, i make sure all red lamp devices are unplugged
1 by 1 to know which one is tripping, the lamp.
then after bleeded, I step on the brake pedal real hard.
100lbs or more
and this will centralize the DIFF VALVE NOW>
if not the brakes have air in the system.
or the DIFF VALVE is seized.
they can stick so, learn the MONSTER FOOT brake test./
use max brake pedal pressure now.

there is a parking lamp too. that glows and will warn of low fluid levels.
are you working on the car with no scan tool?
is yes, then you miss out on all those brake error DTCs
dont you... and work totally blind

My brake lights are staying on even when I unplug the brake light switch

The brake light switch is an input to the BCM - body control module , do you know about BCM'S - electronic module ?
Stop Lamps
When the driver presses the brake pedal, the switch contacts open and battery positive voltage is interrupted to the BCM. The BCM then supplies voltage to both the turn/stop lamp supply voltage circuit and trailer rear turn/stop lamp supply voltage circuits. The BCM also supplies voltage to the CHMSL though a dedicated circuit.

could have DTC'S stored in the BCM
DTC B3445 00: Stop Lamp Circuit
Circuit/System Description
The stop lamp switch is used to sense the action of the driver application of the brake pedal. The body control module (BCM) provides a low reference signal and a B+ reference voltage to the stop lamp switch. When the stop lamp switch contacts close indicating the brakes have been applied, the BCM will apply battery voltage to stop lamp relay control circuit and the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL). When the stop lamp relay receives battery voltage from the BCM, the relay coil is energized and the stop lamp relay switch contacts close applying battery voltage to the STOP LAMPS fuse to illuminate the left and right stop lamps.

DTC C0277 00: Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration Not Learned
DTC C0297 00: Brake Applied Output Circuit
DTC C0890 00: Device Voltage Reference Output 3 Circuit Voltage Out of Range

In the event that DTC C0277, C0297, or C0890 sets as current in the body control module (BCM) is an indication of a possible internal BCM malfunction or programming error. There are no external circuits available to diagnose on this vehicle with respect to these DTCs.
Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop or the Cadillac dealer.

Hi I have a warning light that is showing on my dashboard. it is a retangle box with 3 squiggly lines going up on top of the box. can you tell me what it is? it is a us wagon accord. And the words brake...

Hi,
This warning lamp is an indicator to show that your exhaust temperature is getting hot, but if it is staying on even when the engine is cold then you have a faulty sensor which will need to be replaced. The brake lamp light is telling you there is a blown light bulb in one of your brake lights, so get someone to stand on the brake pedal with the ignition on and check that they are all working correctly.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Jason

99 silhouette.all bulbs are in working order.right (not left) signal flashes fast when headlights are on and even worse when brakes depressed(lights on or off).also lights on both rears are real strange on...

I had similar symptoms - rapid flashing of directional when headlights on and brake depressed when making a left turn, both directional indicators in dash light dimly when brake depressed, "Check Traction Control System" indicator On even with ATC turned Off and "strange" indications in tail lights.

Check the pins in the connector at the Lamp Holder Assembly for your Rt. Tail Light for arcing and corrosion. (The female pin is in the vehicle harness connector and the male is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly.) If found, because the male connector is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly, you'll have to replace the Lamp Holder Assembly and the harness section coming in from the vehicle containing the female connector.

I just repaired this problem in the left tail light on my '01 van with a part from a '99 van I found at a local salvage yard.

It depends which indicator is on have you checked to see if you have a brake light bulb out even the one in the rear view window, if equiped or if your talking about the one that indicates you are low on brake fluid.

Brake Lamp remains on

This light is controlled by the hand brake, brake fluid level and on some models the brake pad wear indicators.
Low brake pads or a broken sensor wire is a common reason for this problem.
