I have a 2000 Buick Regal, the drivers side tire blew out and when it did it tore up the secondary air pump assembly and left me only with parts...... Any way I have the pump and it still works, my problem is that I do not know how the hose routing goes, there are two hose port, one (input) which has a small hose still attached, and then there is another hose port and that is (output) of the pump, I am pretty sure that the out goes to the hose that route up to the top of the engine. ? am I correct? my question is where does the other hose (input) go, does it need some type of valve attached to it, or does it just need to be able to **** in air freely? The diagrams I have do not show me the complete overall system intact. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Service Engine Soon light could be on because of literally hundreds of different reasons. Most of the 2002 Buick Regals are not even equipped with a secondary air injection pump. (The only ones that have them are California emmissions cars) What fault code are you trying to diagnose? Knowing this would make a huge difference in how you go about trying to diagnose and fix it. You didn't mention it, but I am assuming you are talking about a 3.8L V-6 Engine? (Engine size is nice-to-know information if you are trying to diagnose an engine control problem) Also, if you are going to try and diagnose a secondary air injection system, you will need a scanner that has the capability of enabling computer outputs. This is necessary to turn the pump circuit and the injection solenoid circuit on and off to verify what the problem is.

If your Regal is equipped with an air injection pump, it will be located under the car between the front bumper area and the left wheel house. You will have to remove the left front wheel and the left wheel house liner to access it.

Underneath your driver's side front fender (in front of the tire), you will find a black removable panel on the bottom. This panel can be removed or adjusted by removing the three screws attached at the bottom (front) of the fender and two screws inside the wheel well towards the bottom front. With the car jacked up and safetly standing on jack stands, remove the front driver's side tire. You can now fold this black panel back (it has a hinge point for this purpose) and gain access to the secondary air pump.

Pop open the left side and follow the same pattern. ;o)

The pump is located at the left front inner fender forward of the left front wheel. You may remove the inner linning for better access. Please inquire for the TSB update on the pump at the dealer.

hello; i am not an expert but i do own an 97.5 regal gs s/c and the location of the fuel filter on my vehicle is under the car left side behind the driver and just forward of the left rear tire. remember to bleed the fuel rail of any pressures or you will be sprayed. ED
