You have to first disconnect the battery, then raise the vehicle. Then you have to disconnect the wires from the starter /soinoid as well as pull the plastic plug straight back on the soinoid, since there is a connection inside it which you don't want to damage. Then you remove the starter bolts & remove it. I am assuming that you know what the starter looks like. Not too much work, but you need to put the wires back exactly where they were in the first place. Rick

Testimonial: "it did help but is was only 2 bolts but i did end up getting it out and replacing it thanks chev49"

I think that there are 3 bolts holding it in. i by the solonid, (11 o clock position) and two more one about 8 o clock position and the other abt 4 o clock position., Check that. I think that I have the right motor. Rick

How much for a starting inhibitor for an 83 jaguar

what in the world is a
starting inhibitor?

why not post a problem first, an end goal?
what is failing or tell a goal .
my wild wild guess is , a car alarm that blocks the stater motor ?
that is a super old car.
and will have vast $$$ problems
is this an upgrade question?
we sell no car parts here so there is no COST
we only do free words in a text box here. 100% free
the costs of all things are not the same on earth.
so use google + buy to see those prices

no goal or problem told. just nebular, starting inhibitor

if need and alarm on the car (and blocks cranking)
ask a shop in your town for help and or advice.
in some towns USA there is a store called Car Toys
I like that name but every town as place to install alarms.
any major sized town. (parts and labor)

New stater, stater still makes clicking sound

First you should check to make sure the engine is not locked up by turning it over manually. If you can turn the engine manually, then check your battery terminal ends to make sure you have good, clean and tight connections. Typically, a faulty electrical connection is the main culprit that will cause your situation. If you still suspect a faulty connection, try having someone turn the ignition key while you wiggle the battery cables to see if it will try to start. This should help you narrow down the problem area.

My '03 Stang GT won't start. I turn the key and nothing. It has 30g miles, and a friend said it is probably a fuse, not the battery. A jump start did not help. Any ideas?

I believe those vehicles have a spade terminal on the starter it has a plastic square covering on it grab it and wiggle it and pull and push it than try to start those connectors get corroded and dirty!

You drive this car 15 to 20 miles fine then it staters acting up it doesn't want to run over 20 miles per hour with out tring to cut off

I have done this work for 25 years and who ever he is that said the ECM may be bad is most likely incorrect, the ECM or computer is the last part that fails, the failure rate is about 2%, need to know the codes you have to give further assistance to you, thanks

83 mustang gt

In a 83 MUSTANG GT the correct answer is BOTH. As a 5.0L and a TURBO CHARGED 4 cyinder were offered.

1983 Mustang GT
  • Engine:
    • 5.0L horsepower increased to 175 HP when 4V carb replaced 2V carb from 1982 (Holley 4180C series).
    • Exhaust system was revised (less restrictive).
    • 4-speed SROD was only transmission available until early December 1982. In December, new 5-speed T5 became standard GT transmission (4-speed remained on option list).
    • Block and crank were revised to accomodate a 1-piece rear main seal in December 1982.
    • The new "Turbo GT" with a turbo charged 4 cylinder engine was available beginning late in the model year - 145 HP and featured the same suspension and other features of the V8 Mustang GT.
