should have an OBDII connection under the dash on the drivers side. Looks like an elongated computer port, probably has a cover on it that says OBDII. You can buy a code reader from an auto store like pepboys for around $100 i think. Just a side note, usually if the car is still driving ok and not acting weird, it is an emissions sensor.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 Toyota
Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you. The Check Engine light comes on for many, many different reasons. The most common reason is the gas cap being loose. I would check the cap for being loose. If it is loose, drive the car for 10-15 miles to see if the light goes out. If the cap is not loose, you should go and take the car to someplace that can scan the car's computer to get the codes, the reason for the light being on. Autozone stores do this for free. Get us the codes, and then we can isolate your problem better.
SOURCE: Where is shift solenoid E on Toyota Avalon 2000
This solenoid is located inside the transmission on the valve body, it's the solenoid that locks up the torque converter after about 45mph vehicle speed.
SOURCE: What's wrong with my 1995 Toyota Avalon with Codes P0135 and P0773?
P0135 indicates that the heated oxygen sensor 1 on bank 1 is not functioning
properly.
P0773
This is
the torque converter lockup solenoid. Is the converter locking up? The solenoid
can be accessed by removing the trans oil pan. Coil resistance is 10.16.9 ohm,
check to see if the solenoid operates when 12DC is applied.
Can also be the wiring to the solenoid from
ECU.
