When you manually select gears, this over rides the the selected computer solenoids. Check codes. Replace the shift solenoids and the internal transmission harness.
hey check ur abs wheel speed sensors. check data when ur moving lf rf and rears should be reading same speed. its probably gonna be a bad wheel bearing cause that where ur speed sensors are built in to. u need a abs scan tool to monitor ur wheel speed parameters in order to pin point ur bad sensor. or pull codes from ur abs module and see what side it says is failing. good luck
Does it seem like when the engine is cold it runs ok, then when it reaches operating temp. it starts acting up? (poor acceleration, stalling) When I had that problem w/ my 93 K1500, it ended up being my oxygen sensor. (causing too rich of a mixture in the throttle body)
Hope this helps, Good luck
Is there anyway you can pull a code? Because it can be solenoid related, for this type of transmission the speed sensor (VSS) is prone to do this, also how is the transmission fluid is it brownish or dark dark burnt , because if it is its a mechanical failure.I can pull a code if in T.O
Chances are that the vehicle speed sensor has failed. This would cause all the symptoms that you mention. If the computer doesn't seen any speed, then it has no reason to shift the transmission up and out of first gear. And of course, there would be no speed shown on the speedometer.

this may be due to a poor connection at the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission, pull the connector off the sensor and clean it with contact cleaner, if the problem persists replace the speed sensor. there are 2 diff ones here is a picture of the most common one for an auto trans.
