Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the right front diagonal brace. The brace goes from the rad support to the fender area.Three bolts need to be removed.
Reposition the positive battery cable terminal cover (1).A red cover over the positive cable at the battery.It pops off.You may need a screw driver to pop it off.
Loosen the positive battery cable terminal nut.
Remove the positive battery cable terminal from the battery.
Reposition the underhood accessory wiring junction block.See steps 9-14.
Remove the battery retainer bolts (1) and retainer (2).
With the aid of an assistant, remove the battery.
Remove the electrical center cover (1).
Disconnect the positive battery cable from junction box
Remove the fasteners (1) securing the electrical center board (2).
Unlock the tabs on the electrical center board.
Lift up on the electrical center board.
Remove the fasteners (1) securing the electrical center bracket (2) to vehicle.

the shift lever solenoid is going bad, you didnt mention if it was a column shifter lever or console shifter so i cant tell you how to bypass it, same problem with my chevy,hope this helps, you may need to get this done by a dealer or honest mechanic, if you can find 1, but im sure it will help you out if you look like you know what your talking about, im sure this is your problem! good luck

You just remove the AC compressor and replace it with an AC Bypass Pulley. The belt and routing remains the same.

2009 Chevy Impala 3.5. What is the torque specs on the oil pan plug please. It keeps coming loose.

Here it says hand tight and a bit more, another says hand tight and a quarter turn. Replace the compression washer on the plug and you could use Loctite Thread locker as well. It is also possible that the threads are worn on the plug or in the sump. They are susceptible to being over-tightened.

Install the oil pan drain plug with a new O-ring and torque the plug: a. On a plastic oil pan, torque plug to 45 N·m +/- 7 N·m (33 lb·ft +/- 5 lb·ft). b. On an aluminum oil pan torque plug to 60 N·m +/- 9 N·m (44 lb·ft +/- 6 lb·ft).

Supposed to be

The 2008 Chevrolet Impala uses DEXRON - VI Automatic Transmission Fluid.

What kind of transmission fluid does the 2008 Chevy Impala ...

This would suggest not, although it says general purpose.

Do you mean what causes low oil pressure? This is a very reliable engine for the most part. If the oil light is on or gauge is reading low, have the oil pressure sensor inspected for failure. These sensors do go bad.

What size wrench should be used on oil pan plug for a 3500 engine?

It requires a 15mm socket. If you only have an SAE socket set available, I believe a 9/32" will do, so long as you take it easy and the bolt isn't locked up... Then you could end up stripping the head.

Most late models have no drain plug, you can remove the supply line to the radiator put a hose on it and start the engine to drain most of the oil . If it has a dip stick remove it, Some models only have a filler plug. remove the studs holding the pan and remove it . don't forget to fit a new gasket and filter.
