Change headlight Hi, I need to change my headlight, and I would like to do it myself. It looks easy enough, but so far no luck. Do I have to remove the entire front light set-up to exchange the low beam only? At that point I might as well change the lens that got run into by an unknown "friend". (I have a feeling that the water that got into it might have contributed to the failing headlight...). I would really appreciate your help. I can't afford another mechanic hour! Thanks, Julie

    thank you so much for the help. Sounds easy enough... Unfortunately, that's not what I have. I looked a little further into it, and I think I don't have a GL, but a DL. I don't have a bulb, but a unit, and I figured out that I need to unscrew 4 screws from the front. I got 2, the other two are a bit problematic. It seems that they've lost their grove (not the thread) - the screwdriver has no hold on them. Not sure how to deal with that...

    Hi,
    and thanks. The adjustment screws are on the sides whereas the holding screws are closer to the corners. It's the two bottom ones I'm having problems with, the ones more exposed I guess and therefore rustier. I guess at this point I would want to know how to get them out without being able to unscrew them. 


    The year is 1986, it's a station wagon and yes, it's a sealed beam.

Julie.... fairly easy to do. the bulbs are changed from inside the engine compartment. you should be able to see the connector going into the back of the bazel (headlight). generally the connect has a ring on it that you have to turn or you may have to turn the socket to remove the bulb. be careful NOT to touch the replacement bulb with your fingers as it will shorten the life of the bulb. unfortunately if the bulb is on the side that the battery is on you may have to remove it to gain access... if it is i'll explain that to you as well... not that hard to do either.

    before you try to remove any more screws from that may i have the year of your car. also does the headlight appear to be a sealed beam headlight. it usually says something about that on the lents... or you can see the bulb... those other screws might be for the headlight alignment.

    get yourself a can of WD40 at pretty much any store that sells hardware... autozone if you are close and spray the bolts that hold the headlight in.... leave it overnight if you can... spray it again then try to remove them.... if the are rounded ... look and see if a socket would fit on the end... you can buy a 1/4 inch socket set fairly inexpensively and it will come in handy.

2009 dodge caliber passenger side headlamp not lighting
Hopefully since only one headlight is not working it is just a bulb issue. The passenger headlight is the easy one to change just have to reach your hand down in front of the coolant reservoir and grab your bulb and turn it to the left to remove. Once the bulb is removed use a flat head screw driver to push the red clip on then plug and then unplug it. You might have to pry between the plug and the bulb to get the plug off. Here is a link to some bulbs that would make a nice upgrade from factory bulbs.

How do I change the front driver side light bulb in a 03 Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.6?
Danielle, On the driver side you may have stuff in the way, which may have to be removed, to change bulb. Sometimes it is easier to remove headlight then change bulb and reassemble. Videos attached make it look fairly easy to change he bulb with out removal of headlight.

Loss of power no ck engine light on
usually loss of power w/o a check engine light can be from a few problems the most common is fuel filter clogging others are fuel pump--egr ---cat converter .or needs a tune up filters easy enough to change egr can be removed and cleaned of carbon if not to far gone if is will need to be replaced ---cat with vehicle running feel exhaust if weak look dont touch cat if red partial clog and will need replacement good luck

How do remove headlight assembly on 2005 Buick LaCrosse to replace lighe bulb
I just changed the low beam bulb in a '05 Buick LaCrosse and found it really rather easy after researching it. I found no reason to remove the grill and the bumper cover, BUT you do have to remove the top 4 fastners that hold the grill assy to the radiator support, then you can work the headlight assy forward enough to work it out of the socket and turn it down so you can get to the bulb pockets on the back side. NO NEED to remove it all, just loosen it and gentley pry things forward enough to get the light assy out. ALSO> My supplier said his Wagner lighting book called for a 9006 bulb, but the car I worked took a H11. About 4x the money over a plain ol 9006 bulb but it might save someone picking up the wrong bulb. I hope this helps someone else out....Best of luck to you all

Makes multiple clicking noise when trying to start what does this mean
This could mean dirty connections at battery,low battery charge,alternator not charging,or bad starter.Check the easy things first.Make sure the connections on the battery are clean and tight.Turn the headlights on and see if they look bright or dim when you try to start the vehicle.As far as the battery,starter,and charging systems you can get them tested at most parts stores for free.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Headlight alignment
you have to buy the tool from a auto parts store and its very easy to fix the problem just try doing it at night so you can see where they are on the road e.i. not to close but not to far!!! up down.

Signal light change.
There is one 10mm Bolt on the top of the light and three 10mm nuts on the back of the light. You will need to use a 10mm wrench to remove the nuts because they are in a tight place.

After the 1 bold and 3 nuts are removed, the entire headlight assemble will pull straight out. You don't need to take the headlight bulb out because there should be enough wire to pull out the assembly far enough to get to the turn signal bulb. This will allow you to change the turn signal bulb which should be a 4157 amber bulb.

When putting the headlight assemble back in the van, there is a plastic pin in headlight assembly that goes into a hole in the front fender for alightment. Don't force the light. Take your time and the headlight assembly will go back in the van smoothly.

Replacing headlights
There are two clips for each light; one to each side just lift up on the clips. Then you have four upper and two lower grill clips that are the push/pull type. Just pull where the clips are located and they will pull right out. Watch for stressing the wiring going to the running lights. You then can pull the headlight grill assy out far enough to change the lights. Low beams are to the outside and high beams to the inside. DON'T TOUCH THE BULBS!!! A little twist left or right will unlock the bulbs. Use some contact grease to make sure the contacts stay good. 15 - 20 minute job.

Headlight bulb
You have to remove the air intake filter and then kind of reach around up in there to change it. It can be done, but is a lot of work. On the duramax, it is even harder to do the driver side because of the dual batteries. You have to remove the battery, then the battery seat plate, and undo the winshield washer fluid tank and lean it forward. Then you can just sort of reach in and change both headlights. A very big pain to change a couple of headlights, but if you want HID's.... for the average person, changing a headlight now means a trip to that garage.
