The automatic (vacuum) release-type is standard equipment on all vehicles.
The automatic vacuum-type parking brake system contains the following features:
SOURCE: parking brake wont hold
if you have rear drums then you adjust them from behind. the backing plate. just tight enough that you can fell the drag.if they are rear disk brakes.there is a cable with a nut on it.tighten the nut to tighten up the parking brake.
SOURCE: parking brake sets but doesn't hold
The simple cause is because it's out of adjustment. You're going to have to raise it and find the adjustment screw/bolt at the apex of the cable coming from the rear wheels toward the center of the car underneath. Adjust it just enough so the rear wheels turn freely still. Another cause is because the rear brakes are too worn and there's not enough adjustment left.

hey,
you have to use a pretty long screw drive to gently push down on the release tab, slowly wiggle the lens assembly until it move forward a little... depending on how long its been since the last time it was changed, you might have to be a little more aggressive in your wiggling to get it to slid forward.
I just change my front turn signals from yellow to Euro white, looks freaking sweet as hell.
Well, I hope I helped... it would be a shame for you to waste money at the dealership for something like that.
Drive to Seattle and replace it for you... Lol
Good luck
