I have a 97 chevy 1500 with a votech 350 2wd it goes in gear fine and shifts but it feels like its shifting to much it keeps going back and forth from hi gear to the next lower gear it also feels like it gets stuck in hi gear somtimes when you stop at a light then take off it starts to shudder like its in hi gear but it pulls great and has plenty of power

Shift interlock system problem . Not the cable . Your vehicle has a safety system that won't allow the gear selector to be moved from park without the brake pedal pushed . Lock solenoid keeps gear selector from moving . Trying to force it will break something . Do you know how to test electrical circuits with a volt meter ? Enter the vehicle info. Year , make , model and engine size. Under system click on transmission / transaxle , then under subsystem click on shift interlock . Click the search button then the blue link. Park neutral switch , brake switch and the shift interlock solenoid , check electrical circuits .

Time for a rebuild

po785 is a shift/timing solenoid malfunction. po340 is a camshift position sensor A-Bank 1 circuit malfunction.

i have a 90 chevy 2500 2wd 350ci.when i go to start my truck the key turns hard in the ignition,the check engine light and brake light come on the heater dont work,and the transmission will shift from 1-2 at real high rpm and shift hard,no 3-od.this comes and goes,but all happens at the same time.some times it last for 10 min,sometimes its days.what is going on?

Make sure you didnt move the shift lever on the transmition, if its not in the proper position it can cause the linkage to bind when you try to shift it into gear from the column- Hope this helps you out

if the truck feels like,
the more gas you give it the slower it goes,
you might want to check for a converter plugging up.

You can remove the interlock off the gear shift or maybe spray some crc on it otherwise probably a loose wire or switch

4th clutch hub splines are stripped off. GM didn't harden the splines until 2004 or so so the early model gradually wear to the point where they are so thin they strip off - and then, no 4th gear

it could be your fuel regulator located on the top of the right side of the engine a c clip holds it on and it has an 1/8 line runing to the top it tends to set off alot of sensors its about 68 dollars

front clutches bad needs to be rebuilt
