Hey guys I have a 2011 Dodge Nitro 3.7 and today my engine light came on and it was running like I was on rumble strips. I floored it and it sputtered and ran terrible then the light started flashing then I cut it off tried to reset still the light came on. I put the scanner on it and it turned out to be the coil plug on the #3 cylinder. COIL PLUG. Hope this helps out GOD BLESS!
I purchased another COIL PLUG and while removing it from the spark plug it was kind of moving back and forth! GUESS what it was? The spark plug was loose! They never tightened it to specks for the factor. GO FIGURE!
OOPS! From the factory!
FIXED IT! I bought a coil for it and figured i might as well do a tune up on and found one of the spark plugs was loose from the factory. tightened it up and all was well.

SOURCE: check engine light on diagnostics say rpm's too
That would be your rev limiter or your map sensor.
SOURCE: 2008 dodge nitro 3.7 engine. The engine missfires
Have it checked for trouble codes sounds like it could be an injector problem or something as serious as a loose rocker, maybe try a crank&cam shaft position sensors
SOURCE: Keeps going on. What could be the problem?
It could be one of literally thousands of codes. Many auto part stores will scan your code for free. Be sure to write it down.
SOURCE: 2008 dodge nitro change oil light how to turn off ...
Directions are in the book, but you would put the key in and turn it all the way, just don't start engine. Pump gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times slowly, but it has to be with 10 seconds. Turn key off and when you start again, oil changed chime and warning should not be on. If it is, try again.

its emissions, go to an auto part store and they should have an obd2 reader and it will scan the emissions system and tell you what is wrong. more than likely an o2 sensor. also check the gas cap and make sure its on good that will make it come on too.
