SOURCE: Replacing the thermostat on a cadillac deville

Assuming you have the Northstar engine....

The thermostat in the northstar engine is located at the bottom radiator hose (unlike most conventional cooling systems), the hose connects into the housing where you will also find the water pump.
Remove the hose from the housing, then remove the two bolts on the flange, the thermostat can then be pulled out.
Take note of the orientation of the thermostat as you remove it.
Don't forget the new gasket when you install your new stat.

SOURCE: HOW DO YOU CAHNGE THE THERMOSTAT ON 2002 CADILLAC DEVILLE

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line. It's job is to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage. The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side to near the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.

SOURCE: changing the thermostat 2000 cadillac deville

The pressure they work within is usualy information on your radiator cap or owners hand book.Your thermostat should be a 180 degree but can vary The 180 is in reference to the heat required to open them so water can flow through and be kept at a more or less constant 180.There are other temp ranges for a wide variety of applications and 180 is the standard one for most vehiclesThe radiaor and water system is pressurised to lower the boiling point of the water The higher the pressure the lower the boiling point

SOURCE: thermostat replacement how easy is it on a 1998

Thermostat replacement is relatively easy for an experienced technician. However, it's harder than a 2 bolt change found on older classic cars.

It is located in a thermostat housing on the left side of the engine.

Look to see if you can do this one.

Where is the thermostat on a 1999 cadillac deville

I think you are having a 4.9L Cadillac. If so please follow the upper radiator to the engine. This would lead to the thermostat housing which holds the thermostat.

I am trying to replace the thermostat on my 1999 Cadillac DeVille but cannot locate the housing.

Hello: Follow the bottom radiator hose on the drivers side to where it connects to the engine. Remove two bolts (10mm head) that will allow the hose to engine adapter to come off, the thermostat is under there. Note how the old thermostat comes out and be sure to install the new on the same way.

Where is the themostat on 2000 cadillac deville

hi. On a 4.9L follow the upper radiator back to the engine. This should be the thermostat housing. The thermostat should be inside.
On a 4.6L the thermostate is in the housing which is near the water pump drivebelts "on the coolant crossover housing". If this is not clean I recommend you buy the Haynes for your DeVille. See page 3-4, illustration 3.14.

How to replace the thermostat on 2001cadillac deville

4.6 Northstar V8. It is located on the rear of engine (driver side) in front. It is 1n the the waterpump housing cover. Remove airbox and intake tube and bottom radiator hose. 2 bolts(believe 10mm) on thermo housing. These systems are a lil finiky about air pockets....so fill slowly and let run at idle until operating temp and let cool and chk level.....fill as needed and repeat if needed.
