Replaced the belt for AC and power steering breaks repeatedly. Lasts less than 100 miles. Replaced by professional mechanics
You may do better to work on your own vehicles
Look for a worn crank damper pulley or & all
pulleys, that the belt your having trouble with
rides on.
No reason at all for a belt to break & not check
why, before installing a new one
What your looking for is alignment & good spring
on tensioner
Testimonial: "Peter, Thank you for your quick response. I should add more details. The auto has about 102K miles. This is a new issue. When the belts were replaced, the mechanic checked the alignment of the pulleys. He was motivated to do this since I was not paying for the additional belts and labor. I was wondering if it could be a bad pulley bearing on the PS pump. How would one check bad bearings? Thank you for your help."
SOURCE: power steering noise
The belt is almost assuredly to tight and needs to be loosened just a hair. It is hard sometimes to get the tension just right. Try looseneing it a bit and hopefully that will help. I have had the same problem in the past.
SOURCE: clicking noise when turning right
check your cv axles in the front end. they are basically your drive axles. the popping while turning is usually the outer boots on the axle shafts have torn and the grease inside the boots has ran out causing the shaft to be dry and click or pop when steering. usually you can replace the boot thats torn but it must be done within a few days of it tearing otherwise you will need to replace the axle shafts.
SOURCE: Power steering fluid leaking.
Year and mileage? Keep the fluid level up so you don't damage the power steering pump, and return to the garage that serviced it. This sounds like something wasn't tightened properly, and they should correct the problem. It is possible that a power steering hose or the pump itself developed a leak, but, it is most likely something that wasn't tightened properly. That's the best diagnosis that can be given w/out actually being able to see the vehicle.
