Why is the steering making a moaning sound on 1991 volkswagen westfalia ?

Groaning in the column itself could be the column bearings, or perhaps the horn contacts, although they make more of a scraping sound. A little lube sprayed between the steering wheel and column may help that. If you're referring to noise in the steering itself, sometimes the front upper control arm bushings groan when they're worn out. Or power steering fluid loss due to leakage from rotted power steering lines under the van. Trying to address all that I can think of, but your question is rather vague.

(1999 pontiac grand prix 3100 v6) when I turn my wheel, rather left or right I hear a moaning. Noise and its very annoying, help me!

Check the power steering fluid, have a helper turn the wheel and look under the hood and see if the power steering pump is making noise, check the P/S belt to make sure it's tight.

Power steering moaning sound during turning left or right

This is most probably due to low powerstering fluid in the system, you can simply top it up and have the steering rack pipes and pump checked for leaks.

Noise fron tire nissan altima

Are you check the power steering fluid? If it's a moaning sound, when you're turning the wheel, you're either low on power steering fluid, your pump is getting weak or (most likely) your rack and pinion steering pump is getting weak.

When I turn the steering wheel it grinds and moans like it's being shot. Is it the gearbox or the power steering pump, or neither?

These trucks are notorious for ball joints that make all kinds of noise. Start by inspecting the ball joints while someone turns the wheel side to side.

1. Jack up truck so wheels are free from ground.
2. With engine off turn wheel side to side and listen for your noise.
3. If you are not detecting the noise during this test the noise maybe in your power steering system.

Also note that sometimes the ball joints may not make noise unless the wheels are on the ground and loaded. In this case rocking the wheel should expose the location of your noise.

Power steering pump seems shot, the car moans whenever i turn the steering wheel

If it is been shot and it moans ,there is a possibility that the problem is in adjusting the steering wheel of the car to free play. There fore the owner of the car should be able to adjust steering wheel free play.Prepare the tools and equipment for adjusting steering wheel free play . So that when the steering free play is adjusted , no parts is, no parts are lost or broken. This is what should be done ,first you have to locate steering system assembly, locate the gear box ,check the steering wheel free play, adjust steering wheel free play, observe safety rules .But if you don't have time to do the job then you have to go to a car shop mechanic let the mechanic to do the job

Moaning noise in steering column

The probably lubed the intermediat shaft conenction. The loud poping noise could be from them not sitting the boot back correctly. Inspect your boot. As for the moaning noise Only thing I can think of is a hydraulic noise.
