Hi amberdawn_84

My 97 yukon did the same thing (I believe). The valve body in the transmisson wears out (design problem) and causes the transmission to shift really hard. My repair was about $500 (nondealer).

Does the truck have a push button selector on the dash? If so, you need to replace the drive motor on the transfur case.

I have a 99 GMC Yukon that is stuck in AWD. Is this the transmission module? Thanks, Bob

There are 4 things that could be the cause, the switch, the module, the encoder motor on the transfer case or a problem with the Antilock Brake System [ this is how the auto 4wd system gets it's operational infomation ]. The only realistic way to pinpoint the problem is to scan the 4wd system with a good scanner.
