My 2002 Saturn SL1 just started making a fluttering noise when I first take off. I don't hear it after I am up to speed but that could be the outside noise is covering it

you most likely have a plugged catalytic converter and a stuck open egr valve. Your car has two one is a digital electric and the other is mechanical, this is a common problem for that car. The digital is hard to find on the engine and hard to get at but if you want the procedure I can tell you how to fix it by removing and cleaning.

Call junkyards, look on ebay or craigslist, and find out. You are obviously going to need a used part. Having located a used part, find a mechanic to find out how much the labor will be.
