You'll need to check recommended tire size for your vehicle, normally on a tag along the driver's side door frame. The G78-14 tire is approximately equivalent to a P215/75R14 tire. Please make sure you put the same size tire on both sides of your car, front or rear, to avoid stability problems and excess differential wear, and NEVER mix radial ply tires with bias ply tires.

as long as the rims dont rub against the wing or suspension it should be fine

The difference between 205-60-15 and 205-70-15 tires is that the sidewall is a little thicker on the 205-70-15's, in which makes what msapp12 said accurate. For your car you can fit 195-65-15, 205-60-15, and 215-60-15 tires. Stock tire size for that car is 195-65-15, but the only difference between the three of the sizes I mentioned is the width of the tire. Something to check after getting new tires is your alignment. Make sure that it is straight, as well as make sure that none of your wheels are bent when you have the new tires installed. If either of those are present, it will cause bad uneven wear on your tires causing you to buy new tires more frequently. Plus as a routine maintenance, have your tires rotated and rebalanced every 4,000 to 6,000 miles that way they wear evenly. find some junkyards in the phone book and call them until you find a replacement rim. they are about 20 bucks used and most likely about any GM rim from the 90s will fit it. have your old tire put on your new used rim, balanced, and you are good to go unless the tire itself has been damaged.take a look at the tire size so you know what size rim you have, most likely a 13,14, or 15 inch size.

both tires will fit on the 15 inch rim
But be advised make sure you have same size tires on the drive wheels being as your car is front wheel drive u want both the front tires to be the same size
if this is not done u will burn up your transmission
if you have to put a odd ball tire on put it on the rear

exact opposite is true for rear wheel drive car on a rear wheel drive car u want both rear tires to be the same size

going from a 205 to a 195 is going to be a narrower tire. I am doing this now on my truck. I am going from a 305 to a 275. going from a 70 to a 65 is going to be slightly shorter of a tire. the opening will still be 15 inches. hope this helps.

From a legal stanpoint? Do you have inspections that require stock equipment? Might want to be careful there.--other than that from a mechanical standpoint the outside diameter of the tire needs to be real close and honestly it sure sounds like youd be there. Maybe about ten milimeters off in total--but that would represent about 3 mile per hour difference in speedometer reading. not bad. Hope I helped. Thanks

depending on the model Cavalier u have there are 2 sizes that where factory installed

Original Equipment Size 1: 195/70-14
