When my car is stopped it overheats almost to the red area. However when I start driving the needle goes back to the normal area. When I park the car, the fan runs for about 15 minutes before shutting off.
I am Not too clear on fault from your infor.
1 - do you lose water?
2 - does your heater still work?
its possible that you may have an air lock in your system, that will cause problems on low revs/idling. Check water pump for noises/leaks and is the thermostat okay.
Be very carefull probing around hot hose's as they can burst upon being disturbed.
hope this helps

When i turn a certain way the tempature gage goes to hot then when i straighten out the gage goes back to normal. I put antifreeze in it last night but it really ran hot this morning where smoke or steam was coming from the hood, the rear of the car and into the car.
