SOURCE: security light stays on car wont start...

Looks like the TDM in the security system (VATS/PassKey) is having problems, it's typical on those cars. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

SOURCE: drove car, the next morning car dont turn over but

you may still need to try a boost from another car.it may still not have enough of a charge to turn starter. any clicking at all when you attempt to start? if this does'nt work, look under hood in black main fuse box, lift cover off box.under the cover you should see locations of certain fuses and relays. check for bad starter relay or fuse, also check for a main ecm fuse bad and a bad main engine fuse bad. the only other alternative is bad starter. don't know how mechanically inclined you are but if a starter going bad, sometimes you can get one last start out of a bad starter by tapping on it while someone holds key in start position. do not attempt if you're not mechanically inclined as there are very high voltage wires going to the starter that you don't want to accidently hit and short out! hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

If security light is on, turn the key on and it may take 15-20 min for it to reset. Turn key back to off and then try to restart. Security light should be off and it it should start. If you for instance use a key, like a spare that you have not been using, security system may recognize a difference (because of wear, etc) and think someone is trying to steal it. Good chance that will work. Secuirty system sounds to be the problem.

Drove it home everything was ok! went out the next

sounds like a broken timing belt, timing belts like to break during engine cranking and engine shut down. there are inspection holes in the timing cover,if you can't determine, remove top half of timing cover and check belt for slap,if there's slap,it's broke.

Car tries to start but doesnt, it just spits & sputters

I had the same problem all of these models do, but GM wont recall them. Here is what you do if you have not yet, turn to key to on but don't start the engine all the lights in the dash will go on, when they turn back off see if your security light stays on or blinks. If it does its your Pass Lock security system. You can reprogram it using the key, take the key out then put it back in the ignition move it all the way to ON but don't turn on the engine when the lights in the dash go out turn the key back to the ACC position leave it there for ten minutes the light should turn off after about ten min. then turn the key to the OFF position pull it out about 1/4 of the way then push it in and start it up. If this is the problem you may have to do this any time it does not start up.
