1999 accord wont shift out of park and no break lights.

My honda sometimes wont shift out of park and i dont have break lights. If i pump the the breaks enough it will shift to reverse and have break lights for a moment. Is this a break, shifter, or trany problem?

It sounds like you need a brake light switch.

U have a problem with ur break light switch,,, its at the brake pedal and is threaded into the brake pedal bracket, if u have a new one and are going to replace it, disconnect the connector, loosen the 14mm nut and remove the switch by turning it counterclockwise...install ther new switch by turning it clockwise and tightening the 14mm nut then reconnect the connector...be sure to adjust the switch or else the brake lights will stay on at all times...draining ur battery and possibly burning out ur bulbs...this also releases ur trans from park to put into gears

1999 honda accord hard to shift out of park

It could be that the brake switch is bad! If you would, look down at the shifter, there is a emergency shift lock release, take your key and insert it in there and push down should release your shifter! please use this method instead of leaving it in neutral! that is very dangerous

1999 honda accord will not shift out of park sometimes

I would start by looking at the brake switch/sensor.
it is located on the brake pedal lever typically close to the firewall.
if the sensor bad or the wiring/connector are loose or broken it can keep you from removing your shift linkage from park.
because your problem is intermittent I would look at the connection and verify that it hasn't wiggled loose.

1998 Accord: 1998 honda accord sedan break lights stay on...

In all probability, the brake switch got stuck in the closed position. One way to test it is by trying to move the shift lever from Park to Neutral without depressing the brake. If you can do this, then the switch is damaged. It is very simple and inexpensive to replace. It is located a few inches above the brake pedal rubber pad.

1999 Honda Accord EX won't shift out of park. It is stuck. I think it's the shift lock solenoid but I'm not sure. How do I get the car out of park. I pushed the brake in but the button on the gear shifter...

If you press the Break pedal and the shift button does not engage, Your Solenoid did not activate to release it out of park. either the: solenoid is out - Bent levers - Solenoid harness disconnected - Break activation wire may be damaged. this piece is easy to replace as it sits on the right side (passanger side) of the shift lever. remove center console cover to access the soleniod which is held on by two 10mm nuts. and a C- clamp

My car sometimes turnes off suddenly during

I had the same problem on my 1999 Honda Accord 4 cyl. It was the ignition switch. I received a letter from Honda regarding a recall on the ignition switch and had it replaced. 3 years after replacement it would turn off again & this time I purchased part from eBaby & replaced it myself. It hasn’t stalled since.

2004 honda accord wont come out of park. Starts fine. Brake is pushed, etc. Daughters car and Im in another state right now.

Do the brake lights work, if not you need a brake light switch. The brake switch controls the interlock system which prevents you from shifting out of park without your foot on the brake.

1999 accord; no brake lights and wont shift to reverse.

Check the switch and relays. They are connected to the brake lever. When the brake is depressed the switch will turn on the brake light. Another relay will release the transmission lever to allow it to be moved from PARK to other gears(safety feature). You probably should hear a clicking when you press the brakes.
